Our museum was mandated to temporarily close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which greatly affected our financial stability.
Our organization depends greatly on funds from facility rentals, admission to the museum, and donations from guests, but this closure has ceased all normal income.
We are all too aware of the financial hardships placed on our community members and local businesses, but only with your support and generosity can we continue to achieve our goals and preserve the Automobile Driving Museum for future generations.

In 1929 Packard offered the 626,633,640 and 645 models (in ascending order of cost).
They were powered by Packards new standard eight engine.
The new eight was a unique design that dramatically reduced vibration providing a very quiet and smooth ride.
This very unusual model includes right hand drive to accommodate the local requirements for Australian, where it was used.
Also, he separate cowl and windshield was included to protect passengers in the rear seat from wind at higher speeds.

November 1st is Día de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, in the Mexican community.
Día de Los Muertos celebrates all of our dearly departed with offerings, ofrendas, and altars, made in their memory. Their favorite foods, sweet treats, and drinks are offered to those who have passed away.

IN MEMORIAM
Henry Arredondo
August 4, 1943 - December 12, 2020.
Henry Arredondo was a longtime valuable volunteer and contributor to the development and operation of the Automobile Driving Museum.
He joined the ADM in 2006 and served until his passing in December 2020. He gave tours, hosted visitor groups, supported events, and led the Car Clean Up Crew.
He became affectionately known around ADM as Henry “Ford” for his love of the Ford Motor Company products, particularly Ford trucks.
We honor all that Henry has done for ADM and for his longtime friendship with many ADM supporters.
We, the ADM Board of Directors, Management, Staff, and Volunteers, express our sincere condolences to the Arredondo family and our appreciation for their support of Henry in his ADM adventure.
RIP Henry. 🕊

Garrett Augustus Morgan owned a sewing machine company in Cleveland. He invented the gas mask, and rescued victims trapped in a tunnel under Lake Eerie.
In 1923, after witnessing a horrific traffic accident, he designed a three-position electric traffic signal system. General Electric paid him $40,000 for the invention.

Celebrating Black History Month with Alicia Boler General Motors Executive VP.
Alicia Boler-Davis started at General Motors as a manufacturing engineer and soon became the first black woman to become a plant manager there.
She has also served as Senior Vice President of Customer Experience. She noted, “There were not a lot of people who looked like me, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t do it.”
Ms. Davis was promoted to Executive VP of Global Manufacturing at GM in 2013.
Her many accomplishments include being named Black Engineer of the Year by US Black Engineer Magazine, Technologist of the Year by Women of Color Magazine, and championing and mentoring women in the automotive industry.

Celebrating Black History Month with the Principal Designer of the City Car, William Lark Jr.
While receiving his Masters at the MIT Media Arts & Sciences Laboratory, William Lark Jr. was a principal designer of the City Car: a shared, electric vehicle that adapts to the driver, road and the city.
The folding car was designed to be used similarly to bike-sharing technology. Time magazine named it an Invention of the Year in 2007.
The concept car was manufactured by Hiriko to be tested in several worldwide markets.
Ultimately folding car technology was deemed obsolete before it was mass-produced because “robo-taxi” services performed the same service of shuttling customers the last mile to their destination without using up parking space.

Celebrating Women’s History Month with another innovative women in the automotive world.
FLORENCE LAWRENCE
Florence Lawrence was known as “The First Movie Star”.
Early movies were shown without credits to the actors, and she was the first actress to be named on screen.
She was also an avid automobile enthusiast. Like many of us today, she was frustrated by the inability to know when drivers in front of her were going to turn or stop.
So she invented turn indicators, which were mechanical flaps that extended from the sides of the vehicle.
Later she invented a brake indicator, a flap on the rear which read “STOP”, actuated by depressing the brake pedal.
Florence Lawrence’s inventions evolved into today’s turn signals and brake lights.
When asked why she never patented her invention, the movie star explained that the inventions were simply for the good of all mankind.
Her inventions were quickly patented and used by others.
