Good morning, and welcome back to Magnificent Mondays! Thank you to everyone who joined us for our webinar on managing your oral health. I will post the link to watch it again this week for those who missed it.
We are talking about something you can do for bleeding gums today as we wrapped up our series this month. It’s called Perio Protect and it is a set of trays that slides over your teeth to place medication under the gums to fight off the bad germs. They can help you in 3 ways: 1- saves you TIME since you will have to see us less frequently because you are getting healthier 2- saves you MONEY because you can reduce the likelihood of having to get gum and bone surgery for your disease and 3- you have PEACE OF MIND knowing you have done everything possible to ward off surgical intervention. Keep in mind that according to a study published in the Journal of the California Dental Association, patients with gum disease are more likely to experience severe, potentially life-threatening complications if they contract COVID-19 and need to be hospitalized. Today, I shared 3 tips to keep your mouth healthy and you pain free:
1) Remember, only a few days remain to change your insurance company based upon the needs of your family. Open season ends Dec 14th.
2) Flex spending accounts will only allow $500 to carry over into 2021. Ask us about adjuncts like electric toothbrushes, Waterpiks, or prescription toothpaste to improve your oral health and use your funds. Also, starting certain treatment may qualify for use of all of your funds even though you may not be totally done by 31 Dec. Ask us how we can help you maximize your FSA.
3) Use or lose your insurance benefits. Call the insurance company and ask for an extension if you can’t get an appointment. We will not be able to see you last minute as we’ve been able to in the past due to COVID-19 restrictions in the office. Safety for our team and patients is our top priority.

Today, we are talking a little bit about new technology 💻 being incorporated into our practice. Our new scanner takes a digital copy of your mouth 👄 😬 that can be used to complete crowns, night guards, move teeth with clear trays similar to Invisalign, and show you in 3-D what your mouth really looks like. You may be surprised 😲😳😬 what secrets your mouth tells us.
Next week, we will take a look at the CT scan which is a special x-ray used for many different purposes in the mouth. I’d normally have to send you to the surgeon or other specialist for this advanced image, but not any more 🥳👏🙌.
