110 years ago today, Kiddo became the first cat to attempt to cross the Atlantic in an airship after stowing away on the airship America. Crew (and cat) were evacuated a few days into the flight — due to storms and engine failure, not because of the feud between Kiddo and chief engineer Melvin Vaniman, which had resulted in the following message radioed down from the airship: "Roy, come and get this ---damn cat."
