August 1, 1958, brothers Bob and Earl Green opened B & E Meats in Burien. At the time, there were probably 6 – 8 meat markets in Burien alone. Bob was 19 years old and Earl was 24. With hard work and youthful charm and energy, they quickly built a thriving business.
April 1, 1975, Bob and Earl purchased an existing market (Ranch House Meats) in Des Moines and opened their second location, B & E Meats and Seafood. Although things started out slow, things did pick up and soon B & E became a landmark and one of Des Moines oldest and best known businesses.
April 1, 1999, after nearly 40 successful years in the meat business, Bob and Earl retired. But the two markets stayed in the family and are now owned by Bob’s son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Trisha Green. The business has continued to grow thanks to friendly staff and high quality, unique products.
