Water Service installs are one of our specialties. We have been doing this type of work for over 20 years. Our foreman Chris and his crew of Brennan, Matt and James do a great job of balancing safety, quality and efficiency. It's tough job, however they handle it like the professionals that they are.
Chris, Matt, James and Mike had a tough one today. Bachtel Excavating was tasked with cutting out a 12" tapping sleeve and valve that had failed. They battled some old valves that prevented them from shutting the main down entirely. This lead to some wet and muddy conditions. Fortunately the crew had the right tools and training to handle this tough job. We needed several pumps, a trench box and shoring to complete the work. We were able to make the repair safely and efficiently, with minimal disruption to the general public. We are proud of our team and the way that they rise to the challenge of these tough jobs. Great job guys!
Happy Thanksgiving from Bachtel Excavating, Inc. We are very thankful to have a great group of dedicated teammates, that provide professional excavating services to our loyal customers. Stay safe and healthy!!
Residential Utility Installation is where it all started. The foundation of Bachtel Excavating was built on the installation of water, gas, electric and sanitary sewer services, for both new construction and existing houses. As we have grown into a full service commercial excavating company, we have continued to serve the residential market. The expertise we have gained in the commercial market has enhanced our knowledge and skills, that allow us to better serve our residential customers. Pictured are Jake, our residential foreman and Bryan one of our skilled utility installers. For many people, the replacement of a utility line is a once and a lifetime event. Jake and Bryan do a great job of communicating with our customers about the installation of the service line and making them feel comfortable with the process.
Monday Observations: We have hard working people at Bachtel Excavating and it starts with our foreman. Pictured are Dominic our site work foreman and Chris our utility foreman in the trenches, leading by example. They don't just give orders, they are working foreman, that do whatever it takes to get the job done. We are putting safety first. I witnessed the use of trench boxes, finland form with hydraulic jacks, sloping and benching, on all of our job sites today. In addition to the trench safety, the crews were using osha approved lift chains, ladders, PPE and cutting cement with water, to prevent silica exposure. It was great seeing our investment in training and equipment being put to good use.
The success of Bachtel Excavating starts with it's people. Pictured is Keith, our Superintendent, explaining a new foundation excavation to Eric and John. Keith does a great job of organizing our projects, making sure that the crews have what they need, while maintaining safety, quality and efficiency. His leadership is outstanding.
Bachtel Excavating crews taking advantage of the great fall weather to build a new parking lot at the Massillon City Schools operation center. Dominic, Tom and Joe are using the latest in Trimble Inc. GPS technology to cut and fill the site. We appreciate the sacrifice our crews make on Saturday to keep our projects on schedule and beat the weather.
Merry Christmas to all of our customers, vendors, teammates and friends. We especially want to thank our hard working team and their families. They have sacrificed so much to make Bachtel Excavating, Inc. the company that it is today.
Out with the old and in with the new. Jake and Chris spending a rainy Saturday moving tools from old trucks to new ones. We are replacing a 2004 pickup and a 2008 service truck with (2) 2020 F550 service trucks. We are very fortunate to be able to upgrade our fleet and provide the best tools and equipment possible for our team.
We can't thank the team at Bachtel Excavating, Inc. enough. Every crew worked some long, tough hours this past week. We faced wind, rain, sleet and snow. We had a foreman on covid quarantine. Everyone stepped up, they had to work short handed or in new roles and did it without complaint. Pictured is our Water Main crew completing a tie in on a new main, at a local hospital. The municipality believed we could complete the work during normal business hours. Unfortunately once we began working, one of the valves did not shut down properly and we had to wait until after 6:00 PM to complete the work. Chris, Matt, James and Brennan stayed until 10:30 PM, after working on site all day. Their can do attitude, skill and professionalism, earned them high praise from the water department foreman. We couldn't be more proud of our team.
