You may remember Warrick Dunn as a star NFL running back. But, he is much more than that and gets little notoriety for his good deeds while Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players disrespect the American Flag and National Anthem and the media drools all over them. Warrick is the type of athlete we should be celebrating.

'The shame is that we never saw Muhammad at his best. He would've been at his peak some time during the three and a half years he was exiled for refusing induction into the service.
People always ask me, 'Who would've won, the Muhammad Ali after the exile or the Cassius Clay before the exile?' I say, the Muhammad Ali after the exile. When he came back he was stronger, the maturity was there.
We'll never have another Muhammad Ali. Forget about it.'

The Spoils of Victory - World Series MVP Pete Rose was thrilled to receive this 1975 AMC Pacer as reward for his stellar performance in the fall classic.
The 2-door hatchback boasted a 100 horsepower motor and 0-60 mph speed in 13.6 seconds. I'm curious if Pete ever sat in the car a 2nd time?

You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body

80s Baseball

Not from the '80s but it was a move that had a major impact on the decade:
On this date in 1978, Peter Edward Rose signed a four year, $3.2 Million deal with the Phillies. Pete was very close to signing with the Royals, but Bill GIles tells a great story in his book, "Pouring Six Beers at a Time" about how the Phillies locked Pete up.
Kansas City had offered Pete more money than Philadelphia but in a last-ditch effort, Giles got a National League Green Book and showed Pete where he ranked among the all-time National League leaders in hits, games played, etc. He then pointed out to Pete that if he went to Kansas City, he would never be the all-time leader in these categories in either league and asked if he'd reconsider signing with Philadelphia.
Pete agreed but Giles still needed to find more money so he went to WPHL-TV and said if the team signed Pete their ratings would go up and they could charge more for advertising. They chipped in some money, the deal got done, and the Phillies won the World Series in 1980.
