An open letter regarding the chaos of Mother’s Day 2020.
I wanted to reach out and personally apologize for our actions Sunday May 10th, Mother’s Day.
I also wanted to briefly talk about what happened and why it happened.
Over the next few weeks we will meet and discuss with regional and store level managers to get their thoughts and ideas on how to prevent this from happening in the future.
At Bad Brads BBQ we pride ourselves on our preparation and planning and have never taken your business for granted.
Every day we work very hard to earn your respect, confidence and try to be better than the day before.
With that being said, as well staffed as we were, no amount of planning could have prepared us for the amount of orders that were coming our way.
We anticipated 1500-2000 orders, but well exceeded 3000 orders for the day.
Our online ordering system wasn’t capable of handling that type of volume which caused it to crash and send 100’s of orders through with the same pickup time.
With 100’s of orders already in and 100’s of orders coming through with the same pickup time there was little we could do except turn off all avenues of new incoming orders and deal with the orders at hand.
Even with online orders turned off we were still receiving orders through the crashed system.
We literally got hit with a tsunami. We are accustomed to high volumes of business but have never seen or experienced this.
We did our very best in the moment and as the chaos ensued, we made plenty of mistakes as unfortunately you may have experienced.
I would like to say that I am very proud of our team as we all came together as a family, stood, fought and did our very best in a very difficult situation.
We are currently working on getting answers to what happened and have taken internal actions to ensure this never happens again.
On behalf of all us at Bad Brads BBQ, we are deeply sorry if you had to experience this on such a special day.
If you placed an order on Mother’s Day 2020, had a pickup time after 5:30 pm and had a less then desirable experience, please message us a copy of your receipt that shows the day and time along with a brief description and we will reach out to make this right.

On February 1, 2021, we will be making some temporary adjustments to our Clinton Township location. Covid-19 has caused more barriers to our business than we could have imagined and we hope you understand.
Although our team has pulled together and worked relentlessly over the course of this pandemic, we have come to realize we need some time to get back on our feet. Due to extremely low staffing levels, our Clinton Township location will be closed on MONDAYS ONLY, throughout the month of February. Clinton Township will still be open Tuesday - Sunday!
We will also be reducing our menu to ensure that we are providing you with the best possible quality you have come to know from us! The Bad Brads management team had to make this difficult decision to protect quality and our existing team members. We are not immune to the challenges small businesses are facing, which is why we want to be transparent with you, our loyal guests.
