He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Kathleen (nee Marttila); loving son of Eugene and Arlene (Gawrysiak) Wisniewski; cherished step-children, Nick (Christine) Baker and Carolyn (Mike Nair) Baker; dearest brother of James Wisniewski and his twin Gene (Patricia) Wisniewski; proud uncle of Joe Wisniewski and Kelly (Matthew) Watson; five great nieces and one great nephew; son-in-law of Jean (late Glenn) Marttila; brother-in-law of Kim (Greg) Easterle. He was a graduate of George Washington High School, Chicago, Class of 1979 and received his Associate Degree from Olive Harvey College, Chicago. A very talented artist, Michael worked in painting, sculpture and metal arts. He was a member of the New Life Christian Church, Whiting and was a retiree of the United States Postal Service with a service of fourteen years. Michael was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion, Whiting Post 80. He loved to fish, hunt and cook and hosted the B.O.N.D. (Bucks Only No Does) Annual Wild Game Dinner for the past 24 years. Devoted to his family, Michael will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. She was the beloved mother of Pamela (late Paul) Kaminsky Kompier and Ronald Kaminsky; loving twin sister of Geraldine (late Richard) Tumidalsky; dearest sister-in-law of Gloria Dosen; cherished aunt of Susan Haddock, Michael Dosen, Richard Tumidalsky and Michael Tumidalsky; dear great aunt of Geena, Alexa and John Wayne; many cousins. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. He retired at the age of 73 from the City of Whiting Sanitation Dept with a service of 28 ½ years. Jerry considered himself “Whiting’s Finest Garbalogist” and was very proud to serve the people of Whiting. He was a former employee of DuPont, East Chicago with a service of 5 years and the City Service Refinery, East Chicago with a service of 18 years. Jerry enjoyed his garden of many beautiful flowers. As each of his daughters married, he always told his future son-in-laws they had picked the most beautiful flower from his garden. Jerry loved to feed the birds and talk to everyone he met. He loved his family and the Lord. Gerrie loved apple picking, bird watching/nature, entertaining for the holidays, music, theatre, traveling and dining out! A most loving and generous person, Gerrie was always surrounded by many friends. She supported numerous charities. Wherever she could, she would always lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maryann (nee Novak), sons Thomas Honeycutt, Jr., Pete Honeycutt, Paul (Brynn) Honeycutt, stepson Wally Minchuk, sisters Joyce Holsomback, Marilyn (Chuck) Beal and Carolyn (Howard) Resnick. Tom was a devoted, loving grandfather to Mathew Honeycutt, Alex Honeycutt and Carson Honeycutt as well as a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Tom was born on December 22, 1959 to the late Warren and late Rose (Gary) Honeycutt. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, Tom attended Lew Wallace High School in Gary before settling in Whiting in 1986. He was a retiree of Bizik Glass Block in Whiting, with a service of 25 years. His family remembers Tom lovingly, as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Tom loved sports, particularly the Chicago Bears, and was a long-time member of the American Slovak Club and the Roosevelt Club, both located in Whiting. “Harpoon Louie” and then “Harpoon”, as he was affectionately referred to by friends, greatly enjoyed talking sports at all levels, family, and taking a genuine interest in all the lives around him. Her great nieces fondly remember her volunteering to be a chaperone on their elementary school field trips to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch, and never turning down the opportunity to see them perform in school plays, musicals, and Christmas concerts. Obituary for Robert Henry Pope: Robert Henry Pope, “Pope” 71 of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years (soulmate since 1976), Christine (nee Yager), his extended family “The 8 Yager Kids”, numerous cousins, and good friends. Robert was also preceded in death by his brother Richard “Dicky” Pope in 2005, his mother Julia Pope (nee Kosalko) in 2004, his father George Pope in 1993. Robert lived in Whiting until 2005. He retired in 1985 from the City of Whiting Parks & Sanitation. He was a merchant marine on the Great Lakes and had also studied to be a surgical nurse but never finished. Robert was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1967. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he attended grade school there also. Robert was a long standing member of Sokol Club 269. He loved music, live concerts, Great America, a “Four Deuces Cheeseburger” at Rose and Onnies’, the Vegas life, traveling, and keeping up with the hometown (Whiting) gossip via good friends. Robert will remain with Chris until her death, at which time they will be both laid to rest at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, just down the row from Robert’s parents, George and Julia.
