This cutie pawtootie was in today for her first groom. She was a rescue puppy at animal Resue Project. The rescue got medical treatment for an injured eye and she was recently adopted once she was healthy. She did great today and we love her.
The foster pup is in....come meet Ryan until 6:00 Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday & Thursday 10 - 3. He is 3 months old and probably 25# so I think he will be a good size dog. Some kind of hound mix. He has Basset looking front legs though he will not be short like that. This is a very sweet dog. I think he would be great with kids. Besides needing to learn what is not his to touch, he is a fairly easy guy. He would be a good dog for first time dog owners.
We are off duty til Monday, but here is a sneak peek. Is this my good side? Or maybe this side? This is Ryan. I just picked him up. He is a hound mix and I think he will be medium to large. Look Sunday evening for more info. & better pictures. Messages, questions, and phone calls likely won't be addressed until Tuesday. The most efficient thing is to come meet him Monday 10 - 6 or fill out and app at Animalrescueproject.org. We are sometimes getting as many as 30 - 40 apps on one pup right now so the rescues are inundated. It is a good problem but volunteers are overwhelmed & need downtime too. Many people told me that they have tried for several different pups at various rescues. I understand but try to be patient. Some folks aren't so nice to people who are generously giving their free time for the animals. Just a little PSA for my fellow volunteers, some who have been brought to tears recently. Be kind in these crazy stressful times.
Say good bye to Everett. He went to his forever home today. 😢 We, especially Sadie, are going to miss him. He will be running an insurance office in Indiana and supervising his 7 acre estate. Not bad for a homeless dude.
We would love your input, please. For the first time in 17 years, we are putting out our holiday stuff before November 1. With COVID we feel like it is important to encourage people to shop early (avoid crowds & shortages) and shop local (because we need you). Right now there are a lot of supply chain issues in retail so this would avoid disappointment and help us since we have no idea what to expect this year. Anyway, we have the windows started and we want to tie it to signage/ a theme. Here are a few ideas (do you like any?) or maybe you have a better one!! Don't cancel Christmas!! shop early, shop local What if Santa gets COVID? shop early, shop local Just in case Rudolph gets quarantined...shop early, shop local It's 2020.....anything could happen!! Shop early, shop local Don't let the Grinch steal Christmas! shop early, shop local Avoid Grincharona... shop early, shop local Do any of these resonate? or do you have something catchy for us?

Holy Husky explosion....Max came in for a spa day and deshed treatment. You can see about 1/3 of the hair that came out.
We will continue to require Masks & Social Distancing at Bark's 5th Avenue. The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services has mandated us to follow this business practice and has issued Emergency Order Under MCL 333.2253 – Gathering Prohibition and Mask Order We are NOT trying to make a political statement and consider our adherence to this to be equivalent to following the health code that shoes & shirts are required to enter a business. We don't like wearing the masks either, but for you, we will continue to do so and ask that you do the same. Thank you for your cooperation and your business. We appreciate it. https://www.michigan.gov/documents/coronavirus/MDHHS_epidemic_order_-_Gatherings_masks_bars_sports_-_FINAL_704287_7.pdf MICHIGAN.GOV www.michigan.gov

We finally have a foster pup. Meet Rocky. He is 5 months old. Beagle (I think) & unknown mix. He is a happy bouncy boy. I think he might be a bit much for young children. You can meet him at Bark's Monday thru Thursday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Merry Christmas from the staff at Bark's. We want to thank everyone for supporting our business over the last 17 years, but especially this year. The community has been wonderful to small local businesses. We appreciate you all. In true sibling fashion, Sadie was not cooperative for the group photo. I think she was mad Liza upstaged her so we had to do some extra individual photos.
