80 years ago someone living through the fear and uncertainty of World War II rolled up the days newspaper and tried to block off a cold draft from the fireplace. Yesterday, I dug it out of a pile of soot and ashes where it had fallen behind the firebox. Itโs not the oldest relic Iโve discovered by far. This one though, during this time, hit me differently. It reminded me of how grateful I am and how precious life is. Iโm glad for this job and for our country and my life. I pray this moment in history is one that we all learn from and that we come out stronger, that some day 80 years from now a chimney sweep pulls out a newspaper with a Coronavirus headline and that it all turned out just fine.
