UPDATE! Johnny is one lucky fella! Jamie's Animal Rescue will nurse him through his post surgery recovery and we are grateful to a generous donor and Pet Rehab & Recovery for paying for his femur repair surgery! Things are looking up for Johnny!
“Johnny" A339455 Male lab mix 35.5lbs 6 mos old
Just look at this guy's face! So handsome. We are giving this guy one more try to get him into a rescue. Johnny has a fractured pelvis, fractured vertebrae and a fractured femur. **We do have financial backing for the femur repair.** The greatest concern is the fractured vertebrae and what the long term effects of that may be. When he is helped up to stand, he appears to "leak" urine, no tail tone yet he does have anal tone. Time is what is needed to determine if control would return to the tail and the urination. ++Please see the video in the comments of Johnny attempting to take some steps to receive sweet pets!++ We are hoping someone will give him a chance. Crazier things have happened and maybe, just maybe, this guy will make a full recovery. If interested in taking a chance on him please reach out!

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Barry Hoskins State Farm Insurance Office for completely sponsoring the FHO (femoral head ostectomy) for Champ! Champ is a staff and volunteer favorite at The Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Thank you Debbie, for making this happen your generosity is incredible.
Champ also was able to donate blood to a recipient in the shelter who was in need of a transfusion, Champ is a hero and thankfully he finally got his day!
In an effort to help, we are donating to nonprofits that support COVID-19 relief efforts in our communities. Today's donation will help the local YMCA with Operation Backpack which helps kids go back to school with a backpack and school supplies. We also helped with food distribution, ensuring that families negatively affected by the pandemic have access to food through the Y.
