We loved him/her a lot, but God loved him more.
For all those who have lost a loved one.
If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, you are familiar with grief triggers. Feelings of grief intensify during holidays and birthdays, but also can hit you when you least expect. To help, we’re sharing 5 uncommon grief triggers:
A song with significance comes on the sound system, say, as you’re getting your haircut.
You spot someone who looks like your loved one in a crowd.
You are asked to update contact information for a subscription, and see your loved one’s email or cell number.
You meet someone with the same name, age or job as your loved one.
A restaurant or store you frequented with your loved one has just closed permanently.
It’s important to remember that grief triggers are a reflection of the love and importance of your loved one’s life in yours.
Have you experienced any uncommon, unexpected grief triggers?

"You will lose someone you can't live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn't seal back up. And you come through. It's like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly – that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp."
– Anne Lamott
Just because stores temporarily close and plans are postponed, doesn't mean your grief takes a break too. Grief doesn't wait. The death of a loved one brings enormous challenges. It's important to express and share your grief with others, even if the funeral is postponed or cancelled.

Sir Sean Connery, best known for his portrayal as James Bond, passed away on Saturday at the age of 90.
Connery was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. He joined the army in 1946 at the age of 16, but was discharged at 19 due to a duodenal ulcer. A year later, he began working backstage at the King's Theatre. In 1953, Sir Sean landed a small part in a production of "South Pacific" where he first met his lifelong friend, Michael Caine. His breakthrough came nearly ten years later, in 1962, when he was cast as James Bond. In 1987, Connery starred in "The Untouchables," for which received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

There are approximately 110,000 children in foster care. The average child in foster care waits 3 years to be adopted. Each year more than 23,000 kids will age out of the system before finding a permanent home. National Adoption Day raises awareness of the great need for people who want to provide a forever family.
This is your friendly reminder to check in on those who are grieving.
A simple phone call or "How's it going?" text message can make a world of difference to someone's day. Those who are grieving can sometimes feel alone in their grief. It's important to let them know that you are there to support them, not only in the days after a death, but throughout the months and years in their grief journey.

Grief is not a disorder,
a disease or a sign of weakness.
It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity,
the price you pay for love.
The only cure for grief
is to grieve.
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “look on the bright side…” once or twice, but did you know that December 21st is known as “Look on the Bright Side” DAY? Here are a few tips on staying positive:
1) Find one thing to be thankful for every day.
2) Be specific when expressing gratitude

Tommy Lasorda, longtime manager for the Dodgers, passed away today at the age of 93.
Lasorda was born and raised in Norristown, Pennsylvania in 1927. In 1947, he was signed to the Philadelphia Phillies as a left-handed pitcher at the age of 18. After a great season in 1948, history was in the making when Lasorda signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the minor league draft. By 1960, Tommy retired from the majors. He built on his relationship with the Dodgers and became the third-base coach in 1973.
After Walter Alston retired as manager in 1976, Lasorda was named his replacement. Throughout his 20-year career, Lasorda led the team to 2 World Series, 4 National League pennants, eight division titles and was named the National League's Manager of the Year twice. In his honor, the Dodgers retired his uniform number. Lasorda was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager in 1997. His legacy will live on forever.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

No matter what kind of day it is today, you will overcome it and you will go on.
Larry King, who spent 6 decades as a news interviewer, died this weekend at the age of 87. He interviewed an estimated 50,000 people in his career, from celebrities to disaster victims to world leaders.
His interview style was casual and not confrontational, yet had the ability for his guests to easily open up to him.
The legacy of the stories told in his interviews is vast and lasting. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
Did you watch Larry King Live often? What was the most memorable interview you watched?
People think they know you. They think they know how you're handling a situation. But the truth is no one knows. No one knows what happens after you leave them, when you're lying in bed or sitting over your breakfast alone and all you want to do is cry or scream. They don't know what's going on inside your head--the mind-numbing cocktail of anger and sadness and guilt. This isn't their fault. They just don't know. And so they pretend and they say you're doing great when you're really not. And this makes everyone feel better. Everybody but you.
~ William H. Woodwell Jr.
Hank Aaron, one of the greatest all-around players in baseball history, has died at the age of 86. He was a two-time National League batting champion and eclipsed Babe Ruth's home run record, hitting 755 homers. His career spanned 23 major league seasons.
His grand legacy extends far outside the baseball diamond. We send our condolences to his family, friends, and all baseball fans.
“My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.”

A Thing of Beauty (Excerpt) by John Keats
A THING of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkened ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
All lovely tales that we have heard or read:
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.

Cloris Leachman, American actress and comedienne, passed away this week at the age of 94.
Cloris was born and raised in Des Moines, IA. Her father founded the Leachman Lumber Company, which is still in business today. After graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School, she attended Northwestern University. However, after winning a scholarship for placing in the top 16 of a Miss America pageant in 1946, she began studying acting at the Actors Studio in New York City.
Her first starring role was in the film Kiss Me Deadly. Leachman continued to spend most of her early career in television roles, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the spinoff, Phyllis. Later, she would star as Ruth Popper in the film, The Last Picture Show, earning her the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Leachman's more than seven decades-long career received many accolades. Her long list of television roles earned her 8 Emmys among 22 nominations, making her the most awarded actress in Emmy history (along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Our virtual St. Patrick's Day celebration highlights new performances and previously-recorded Irish favorites by the Greece Choral Society, Greece Concert Band, Greece Community Orchestra, and GPAS Chamber Ensemble. The program includes presentations by conductors Rollo Fisher, BJ Comer, and Jonathan Allentoff and vocal renditions by Michael DeLuca.

As we mark the one-year anniversary of the pandemic, we want to take a moment to recognize those we lost and extend our heartfelt support to their families and loved ones.
We also want to thank every first responder and essential worker who has continued to help keep us as safe as possible while risking their own health.
As we navigate the "next normal," we hope to continue to support our community in their time of need.

Today, pause for a moment and look for what’s beautiful in the world. Perhaps the sound of laughter, the color in the sky at dawn, or the first blush of spring on the trees. What’s still beautiful in your world?

As a community, we have not been immune to grief the past year. Today, in the wake of the horrendous shooting in Boulder, Colorado, we grieve together across the nation. We are heartbroken for all those in Boulder.
We honor the ten lives lost, as we mourn with their families and friends. We recognize Officer Talley's heroism and grieve with the law enforcement community.
May they rest in peace.
