Just when things were getting back to normal, I went and ruptured my Achilles tendon. I have surgery scheduled to repair it next week. Doctor’s orders are I am not allowed in the office 6/18-6/28. We are working hard to reschedule existing appointments and find veterinary coverage for the office. The goal is to have the office open normal hours with limited hours of doctor’s appointments for urgent issues. After the day of surgery, I will be available by telemedicine. As always Judi, Emily and Michelle will be available to help sort out any issues.
Starting this week we will resume normal hours on Thursday (8:30am to 7:00pm) and will resume scheduling of routine surgical procedures at the office and Metropolitan. Boarding and day care are both available. We are going to continue all precautions currently in place at the office (asking clients to call before entering the building, disinfecting, hand washing, masks, limiting clients in the building, etc) at least through the end of May. Curbside will still be an option for those who do not want to or should not enter the building. If you are unsure about anything just call us and we will help figure it out for you.

Keeping everyone healthy (including your pets) is our primary goal. To accomplish this, we need to be able maintain an appropriate social distance of 6 feet at all times. So, we have implemented the following guidelines:
Please call before entering the building. This allows us to control flow of people in the building.
Maximum of 2 people (includes children) from the same household in an exam room or reception area at a time.
Our staff will wear face masks when not able to maintain a 6-foot distance from clients. We understand the limitations of masks but feel their use is appropriate and beneficial at this time.
Our staff will continue to use gloves, hand washing and aggressive disinfection.
We ask when you are in the rooms that you stay over towards the exam tables and we plan to stay over towards the door and computer.
We will be taking all animals out of the rooms for examinations, procedures and vaccines. Once that portion is complete Dr. Smith will come into the room to discuss findings and any concerns you have.
For anyone who should not enter the building or does not want to enter the building, we will obtain your pet from the parking lot and handle the rest by phone
All of this is awkward and overwhelming for us as well. We are hoping that these guidelines will prevent the need to go to 100% curbside service. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Stay well!
Starting today we are changing office hours slightly. The office will close at 5:30 pm on Thursdays (instead of 7:00 pm). We expect this change to last a couple of weeks. This will allow us to open up some appointments on Wednesday morning. Otherwise our hours will remain the same.

The staff and I have decided to change things up this year and take a break around Thanksgiving. From Wednesday to Sunday the office will be closed except for limited boarding hours. And while the office will not be open, staff members will be here on a regular basis to take care of all of our boarders and provide them with a level of attention they are used to. The staff will be checking phone messages and text messages (you can now text us at our main number, 330-666-0018). They will continue to handle scheduling, medication refills and try and get answers to any questions you have.
We look forward to returning on Monday recharged and ready to power through the rest of the year.
We want to thank our wonderful clients for all the support and understanding as we navigated the changes that have come with Covid. We very much wanted to make everyone feel comfortable (including us) while continuing to provide the care and communication we feel is so essential. Judi, Emily, Michelle and Victoria did a phenomenal job of managing crazy appointment schedules, non-stop ringing of the phones and managing the flow of traffic through the building. They all worked very hard to make it so we did not need to go to curbside service and were dedicated to getting our urgent patients seen quickly.
