Home School Ergonomics Quick Tip! In general, laptops pose ergonomic challenges due to the fact that the screen height is not adjustable. Depending on your child’s size, using a laptop on the desktop may not be an issue if the screen is large and not too far below eye level. But the best set up is to prop the laptop on a laptop riser (or books, box etc.) or plug it into an external monitor. In addition, if the laptop is raised or an external monitor is used, it is important to also use an external keyboard and mouse. If a tablet is used, then it is best to prop up the tablet and use with an external keyboard. Last but not least, if your child uses their laptop or tablet on the couch or in bed, using a lap desk (homemade or store-bought) will help them sit in a healthy position. #homeschool #ergonomics #tips #battlebornhealth

For any physical therapy appointment, be sure to wear comfortable and loose fitting clothes. Clothes that will leave the area of treatment free are also helpful. For example, if we will be working on your elbow – wear sleeveless or short sleeve shirts.

What’s the difference between occupational and physical therapy? Occupational therapists focus on restoring function, so an individual can become independent and handle daily activities and self-care. A physical therapist deals with strength, range of motion and balance to help patients walk, stand, reach and achieve other physical activities.
Parent tips: Raise active & healthy kids. It's common for a patient to be referred to a physical therapist following a surgery, such as joint replacement and ACL reconstruction, in order to regain the mobility and lifestyle that was enjoyed before the surgery.
Tennis elbow is a painful condition that occurs when tendons in your elbow are overloaded, usually by repetitive motions, and you don't have to play tennis to get it. Any repetitive motion involving that part of the arm can lead to developing this condition over time.
Physical therapy can not only relieve pain, but completely reverse some conditions or stop them from progressing, eliminating the need for surgery. For many patients, the thought of surgery is overwhelming; it can be expensive, uncomfortable and inconvenient, especially when an extended recovery period is required. However, early intervention from a physical therapist may prevent the need for surgery in many cases. #BattleBornHealth #PreventSurgery #HealthyHappy

So what’s the problem with excessive pronation? This misalignment overtime will stress the ligaments, muscles, and tendons in the foot, leg, and back, leading to serious foot and lower body injuries over time.
Although you may be anxious to get back to work, returning before your hands and wrists have adequately recovered can actually slow your progress. Let’s talk about how you’re progressing and when you might be able to get back to work.
Did you know that movement contributes to learning and healthy growth in children and teens? It's true. There are numerous studies done on the interaction between movement (motor development) and cognitive function. Children who are more physically active perform better at tasks involving memory than sedentary children. In this digital age, especially with the majority of kids learning from a Zoom screen, it is essential that we encourage our kids to move regularly. https://bit.ly/3ojOJty BATTLEBORNHEALTH.COM Movement Contributes to Learning and Healthy Growth in Children and Teens

One technique commonly used in physical therapy is massage. Here, pressure is applied to the soft tissues of the body in order to help relax muscles, boost overall circulation, and ease pain in those soft tissues.
If you’ve experienced an extensor tendon injury, your doctor may recommend physical therapy. In conjunction with the use of orthoses to immobilize injured areas, therapy can help restore mobility, dexterity, and strength to your fingers and thumb.
In most instances, our physical therapists will work to develop an at-home program designed specifically for you and your condition. Typically these regimens consist of specific exercises you can perform at home to continue to increase motion, mobility or strength in between office visits. To see more at-home exercises visit the videos page on our website. BATTLEBORNHEALTH.COM Video Library

Pain is our body’s way of warning and protecting us by stimulating the nervous system to produce chemical reactions (a stress response) to signal the body. Unfortunately it has become a badge of honor in our American culture to go-go-go, deprive ourselves of certain foods, exercise six days a week, and generally push ourselves in the name of health and strength. But what if that is doing more harm than good? In this blog, Danielle covers the nine symptoms that may signal you need to cut back on your exercise routine and allow your body to recover between sessions. https://bit.ly/3axpX5D BATTLEBORNHEALTH.COM www.battlebornhealth.com
