Since the onset of COVID-19, many of our patients have been working from home. Additionally, now their children are potentially learning from home, too. It’s easy to sit down at the kitchen table or cozy up on the couch with your laptop for the work day. However, it’s important to understand the effects poor posture and faulty ergonomic workspaces can have on your body. The most common posture impairments include forward head, rounded shoulders and flattened back. Sitting in a slouched position puts stress on the spine and muscles of the neck, shoulders and back. This stress can have negative effects on flexibility and strength, causing pain or discomfort in these areas. To avoid discomfort and reduce stiffness, make sure you’re getting up to stretch or move after sitting for long periods of time. #posture #covid19 #workfromhome
Happy #MaskMonday, everyone! Here is a friendly reminder to please wear your mask when receiving care in our centers and out in the community to keep yourself and others safe!
“I am a former acute rehab liaison (RN) and a patient in Monticello. I was in a multi-trauma work accident on July 15 that left me wheelchair bound and included a complex and profound fracture of my distal fibula that resulted in nine screws and a plate in my right leg. “The entire staff has been wonderful to me. But Regan? This young lady is platinum. She is kind, compassionate, personable and a wonderful clinician. Even on my worst days, when I don’t want to go to therapy, I feel better as soon as I see her. “I have made great progress, but if I had my way I would be back to work by now. Regan keeps me realistic while also imparting hope. My path has been incredibly impacted by having Regan as my therapist. She truly cares for all of the patients as a whole person. We are better for having her in our lives. My gratitude is enormous!” After suffering a traumatic injury, our patient Emily began physical therapy with Regan White, DPT, ATC, CLT, at our Monticello, IN location. As a member of the health care community herself, Emily could not be happier with the compassionate care she is receiving from Regan. We’re so proud to have Regan on our team and wish Emily the best of luck on her road to recovery. #bounceback2it #patientsuccess #ThePowerOfPhysicalTherapy

Meet Rose Walkenhorst M.S., ATC! She’s one of the Area Sports Medicine Coordinators in Iowa and has been working at Select Physical Therapy for more than 10 years. She currently works as a liaison between physical therapists at Select Physical Therapy and the physicians at Iowa Ortho to enhance patient care. While working with the physicians, she helps examine the patients and obtains a detailed history. She also helps to complete electronic health records and review previous records and imaging.
