Cottages by the Ocean guest lodging in Pompano Beach, Florida will be the setting for part of a special Art & Design Week event January 16 - 23, created by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. A juried artist will be chosen to begin and finish an onsite artwork inspired by the serenity of this historic boutique lodging in a unique residency concept called "ARTCATION." https://4rentbythebeach.com
The program will pair some of the area's top small inns with a set of prolific national and international artists who have large social media followings. Each artist will create whatever artwork they wish in whatever medium they wish for their own representation of the boutique property where they are staying.
The artists will document the progress of their work daily via photos and videos to their social media fans. It's an opportunity to promote their work, the boutique property and Greater Fort Lauderdale to audiences worldwide.
"Historic Cottages by the Ocean offers our guests a charming, authentic Florida experience," said proprietor Elaine Fitzgerald, who looks forward to whatever her resident artist will create. "Like all of our Beach Vacation Rentals lodgings, our cottage complex is also a Certified Wildlife Habitat for native and migrating birds and butterflies, so there should be some good material here to inspire our artist."
The final art pieces will be revealed during a socially distant reception taking place at each of the participating properties. Each inn will keep the finished art piece as part of the residency in exchange for the complimentary stay.

This is nesting season in the wetland areas of South Florida! There are several wetlands parks our guests drive to that are free to the public, with boardwalks that allow great views of the birds and their activities. Baby birds hatch in March and April! Romance on the beach under the last full moon. Now isn't it your turn to spend time at the beach and feel young again? The distortion in this photograph makes it look more like an impressionist painting, due to the low light and zooming in from a distance. The memorable full moon drew many folks to the beach that night. I later caught up with this young couple and they were so happy for me to text them their photo.
