The first type of teeth is called Incisors. Incisors are the sharp, chisel-shaped front teeth used for cutting food. These teeth bite into the food you eat and help you pronounce words as you speak while also supporting the lips.

Staff Spotlight: Anna, R.D.H. and Clinical Manager
Anna has been with Bear-Glasgow Dental for 19 years and serves as not only a Hygienist, but our Clinical Manager. She loves her patients, her conversations with them, and hearing what's going on with their lives. "Life is a journey best shared together."
In her free time, she enjoys cooking with her daughter Madison and the conversations they have. She reads a lot of James Patterson and David Balacci books. Her dog Oscar is fun to be around too, and he enjoys their cooking.

Sometimes called cuspids, Canines are shaped like points (cusps) and are used for tearing and grasping food. Canines are located on each side of the upper and lower incisors. They cut or shear food and support the lips. Another function of the canines is to help guide all the teeth into place when the upper and lower jaw come together.

Katie has been a Hygienist with Bear-Glasgow for 2 years. Her favorite part about her job is educating her patients on the importance of oral hygiene and seeing them improve over time.

Karyn has been with Bear-Glasgow for 29 years! Her favorite part about coming to work is seeing her patients and educating them on their dental needs. She loves talking to her patients about life, fun times, and making them laugh.
In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, surf fishing, riding bikes, and grilling with her husband. She also enjoys baking and reading books.

Premolars have two pointed cusps on their biting surface and are sometimes referred to as bicuspids. They are used for crushing and tearing food and are located behind the canines. There are eight premolars in an adult's mouth: four on the top and four on the bottom.

Like premolars, molars are used for chewing food and to maintain the height of the face. Lower molars have two roots, while upper molars have three.
Molars have several cusps on the biting surface to help in the eating process. These are your widest, flattest teeth, and there are 12 altogether: six in the upper jaw and six in the lower. The American Dental Association (ADA) depicts wisdom teeth as the four molars at the back of both the lower and upper jaws, and they're the last to erupt during young adulthood.

Staff Spotlight: Megan, R.D.H.
Megan joined Bear-Glasgow back in January of this year and she has been an integral part of our team ever since. Her favorite part of her job is being able to educate people in the importance behind routine cleanings, as well as at-home care. She's a talker too, so she loves getting to know her patients and their interests.
In her free time, you can find her fishing and kayaking most of her weekends. She loves Philadelphia sports and sporting events. She's also a bluegrass musician and loves performing at music festivals. Megan is a big concert fan from Dave Matthews Band to Red Hot Chili Peppers. She also spends her time with her 3 fish tanks and 2 cocker spaniels.
