From our teammate Kat. Thank you for saying what we are all feeling! 🥰🥰🥰
My heart aches.
This is how I have to dress when I want to go spend time with my residents. Could you imagine someone walking through your house looking like this? They don’t understand, and we can try to explain to them all day long why we are wearing this ppe but they still don’t get it.
They don’t understand why their daughters can’t come in and give them a hug. They don’t understand why sitting at a window is their only option to see their children or grandchildren. They don’t understand why a phone call is the only they can hear their families voice. They don’t understand why we get to go home and see our families but they can’t.
It’s my job to be there for my residents, and of course I will do anything I can for them, but my hug isn’t their grandchild’s. My company isn’t the same as their loved one’s. I can sit and sing to them all day long, but it still doesn’t fill the spot that their family members do.
It’s been a long eight months for them, and who knows how much longer it will be before they can see their families again, but until that day comes, I will still take them on walks, I will still sing to them, I will continue to be their shoulder to cry on, and I will still be a listening ear. I will still be their warm hug, I will still play games with them, I will still sit with them at lunch, and I will still be their confidant. I will be their family until theirs can come back in.
If you are one of my residents, just know that I love you so very much and even though you can’t be with you’re family I am more than happy to be there for you.
If you are the family members to my residents, just know that they are being taken care of. We love them and we are taking great care of them, and if there is ever anything I can do please PLEASE reach out to me and I will do my best to make it happen. I know how you guys are feeling, I am fortunate/unfortunate enough to be on both sides of this fence. I would give anything to be able to take my grandpa out for lunch or bring him home for a while.
With a little love from everyone we can get through this ❤️
