As an adoptee in a mixed family of both biological and adopted children, working in the adoption therapy field has given me the opportunity to share my own adoption story and search for identity. I draw upon my personal experience, and understand complex family systems, as well as the grief and loss surrounding adoption, divorce therapy and family therapy during the death of a family member.Additionally, I have spent extensive time traveling all over the world, and have worked in orphanages in Ghana, Costa Rica and Cambodia. These diverse experiences helped me to develop cultural humility, therefore informing my understanding of the global human experience.Deciding to begin therapy is not an easy choice, and I commend you for your bravery in beginning this journey. Collaboratively we will explore the hurdles preventing growth, and the patterns of behavior that are no longer helpful but difficult to move beyond. I look forward to meeting you, and working together.
