FUN FACT: The breed began in the early 1970s, when a litter of mid-size Rat Terrier puppies was born in the Southern United States. One of the puppies was hairless, and although she wasn’t the first hairless puppy to be born to those parents, she was special. She found a new home with Edwin and Willie Scott in Louisiana, and the Scotts named her Josephine. Josephine captivated her new owners with her winning personality and later became the foundation for this new breed.

Did anyone hear about the Cat in the Chick-fil-A Fruitville Road drive thru?

Our very own Mary’s Mother went about her daily errands when she decided to stop into Chick-fil-a for a quick bite, or so she thought. When her engine cut off (as some of the cars do now when they stop) the ladies as the drive thru heard a meowing noise. The ladies came out and that is when they realized the noise was coming from under her hood. At this point she is backing up the line in full lunch hour rush. A gentleman helped Mary’s mom move the car carefully to further assess where the cat could be. This gentleman was later identified as Kenneth Castro, who safely retrieved the cat and took it home to be watched while the owners were located.
The Castro Family located the owner who we found out that the little boy has medical issues which require a nurse. “Cookie” was his special friend. He was having a meltdown over losing her. His mother works hard and has four children.
Dr. Tudin has elected to vaccinate, spay and microchip “Cookie” as a service to the family. We do not ever want this little boy to go without his “Cookie”!

Big News! Bee Ridge Vet will now be open 8-5:30 on Wednesday's!!! Please help us in welcoming Dr. Glass on Wednesday, April 7th! She will be joining our team to help us open all day on Wednesdays!
Dr. Glass graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine with a certification from Chi University of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine for acupuncture. She especially loves the effects of acupuncture she has experienced on Dachshunds and their mobility. Her interest first began with marine sciences, before moving to general practice and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. She participated in color guard throughout high school and while obtaining her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida. Now, in her free time, you can find Dr. Glass at the beach catching some sun with her pit bull mix, Maggie.
