The North Texas Food Bank plays an important role in hunger relief in the metroplex. When they moved their distribution center to Plano, they added a learning and demonstration garden. Rain harvesting, a green house, and different ways to grow fruits and vegetables through in-ground planting, raised planters, and a variety of vertical trellises were incorporated to educate the public on nutritious food options.
