If you weren’t familiar with the term “social distancing” before this pandemic you certainly are now. While social distancing is a critical preventive measure during this difficult time, it’s important to remember that all of us are at risk for social isolation and loneliness because of it. This timely, interactive and virtual program will examine the dangers of social isolation and loneliness while offering ideas on how to prevent it during this period of social distancing. Join us for a virtual, interactive discussion on how to set limits in caregiving while still providing excellent care for your loved one. Those caring for seniors selflessly devote their time, energy and financial resources to making life better for a loved one, whether they are simply aging or struggling with a challenging health diagnosis. Despite their good intentions, many caregivers unintentionally take on too much, putting their own health and well-being at risk. When caregivers develop “the martyr syndrome” and are reluctant to look for or accept help, the consequences can be devastating. We’ll discuss useful tools and strategies to combat this syndrome. . San Juan's Freezer is a local ice cream truck that has been serving $1 ice cream cones in our neighborhood for 47 years! This father-and-son operation needed a new generator, and one of our Belmont Village Lincoln Park families started a GoFundMe page to help them! Our community made a generous donation to help this local Bucktown business, and the ice cream truck came to visit our residents and staff for an afternoon of tasty twist-cones and banana splits!
