Sleep disordered breathing has been linked to anxiety, depression, diabetes, headaches, hypothyroidism, hypertension, acid reflux, dementia, ADHD, cancer, asthma, chronic fatigue, cardiovascular disease (high blood pressure, stroke, high cholesterol), bedwetting, allergies, and fibromyalgia.
Here are a few things to look out for:
🛏️- Snoring
🛏️- Anxiety and depression
🛏️- Excessive movement while sleeping
🛏️- Teeth grinding
🛏️- Headaches
🛏️- Daytime tiredness and fatigue
🛏️- Crowded teeth and narrow jaws
Remember- breathing through your nose is vital to your overall health, so practicing nasal hygiene is just as important. True nasal hygiene is the practice of keeping your sinuses clean, clear and moisturized to ensure your nose functions at its peak performance. Here are a few tips and tricks to stay on top of your nasal hygiene:
👃-Clear the path - blow your nose!
👃-Clean the path - use a rinse to cleanse the nasal pathway; Clear rinse with xylitol helps to reduce inflammation.
👃-Open the path - use a nasal strip or nasal dilator to help keep the pathway open.
👃-Do this especially before bed for a more restful night sleep with several hours of nasal breathing.
As always, let us know if you have any questions!

It’s a #spooky week ahead of us! What are you dressing up for on Halloween?
That is right! Breathing through nose is the way our bodies are designed to breath. Breathing through your nose also provides many other benefits for your body. Take a look at them below!
-The ability to take fuller, deeper breaths and stimulates the lower lung to distribute more oxygen throughout the body.
- Our nose also filters, cleans, and warms the air as it enters our body - protecting us from viruses and bacteria!
-The lower lung also has parasympathetic nervous fibers, which helps to calm the body and the mind! The upper lung is stimulated by mouth breathing, causing us to hyperventilate, and trigger our sympathetic response - fight or flight!
- When we breath through out nose, we produce Nitric Oxide. This molecule is so important to our body - it helps to boost our immune system by combating viruses and bacteria, regulates the blood pressure, and helps to balance the pH of the blood so oxygen can reach all the issues of our body!
Quip makes an excellent stocking stuffer! If you are not familiar with Quip, it is a low cost, high powered electronic toothbrush that is great for home and while you are on the road. Grab one next time you are at the office!
