Mental illness – including suicidal thoughts – can affect anyone. September is #SuicideAwarenessMonth – a good opportunity to get educated about this important health issue. Knowing the signs and risk factors associated with suicide can help you identify friends and loved ones who might be at risk. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or any other form of mental illness, it’s more than ok to ask for help. We provide a range of support services for our community. Call 800.424.DOCS to learn more. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is also available 24/7 and is free at 800.273.8255 for those in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. #ItsOKToAskForHelp

Why wear a mask? Recent studies show that universal masking, in addition to practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene, can help prevent the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19, especially in individuals who may not know they are ill. These measures not only protect you, but also our healthcare workers and our community members.

Good news alert! Lung cancer deaths have decreased greatly over the last two decades. That’s thanks in part to earlier detection of cancer through lung cancer screenings. If you are a smoker or a former smoker, talk to your provider about getting a low dose CT scan. Visit Conemaugh.org to schedule your appointment.
Conemaugh Health System and LifePoint Health are proudly joining hundreds of hospitals across the country in asking you to #MaskUp. COVID-19 continues to sweep through our community, and we’re fighting hard to keep on providing quality care and keep our patients and employees safe and protected. But we need your help. Wearing a mask is our best defense against the spread of COVID-19 until vaccines are available. If we all do our part and fight together, we’ll get through this. Together. #MaskUp www.EveryMaskUp.com
