September is National Baby Safety Month. It's a great time to remind ourselves to keep these precious little ones safe around water! Drowning is the #2 cause of death of 1-4-year-olds (second only to birth defects). The CDC recommends:
1. Learn CPR.
2. Install a fence with a latching gate around the pool.
3. Arm bands and floaties may help, but they are not life-saving devices. Stay close to children in pools and use life jackets around natural bodies of water.
4. Closely supervise children around water. Remember--if everybody is watching the kids, nobody is watching the kids. A responsible adult should be a designated watcher at all times.

So did ya'll watch America's Funniest Home Videos a week ago? The $10,000 winner was a family who bought a pool that was supposedly big enough for 8 people. Their video showed the picture of what they thought they purchased--and a little 4' x 4' pool, about a foot tall, with their two young kids crowded into it.

Frost/freeze warnings all week!
To protect your pool equipment, make sure that your filter and pump are completely drained if turned off. If your pool has not been winterized and closed, keep the filter running during freezing temperatures to avoid damage to your pump and equipment.

Thanks to our customers who took our suggestions and drained their skimmer, pump & filter. As long as they were bone dry, the ice will not hurt them. In 43 seasons, we have been thru a few winters with these conditions. We remember tanks, pumps and skimmers busted all over the place and those customers having to replace them. The problem at this time is going to be getting replacements. Due to Covid, orders have been on hold and backed up since early fall. All and more than we are getting in have already been pre sold with pool purchases. If you find anything broken, get with us ASAP to get you on a list so yours can be with the next load we get eventually. This is not a sales pitch, but the truth as always on what is and has been happening in our industry. Stay safe.
