Winter gives us more of an appreciation for Spring. The Earth always looks more green and lush after the rain. When we emerge from this, we will look at this world differently. There WILL be a new normal as we will appreciate all that we now can see. From a tiny seed comes life. I once read that if you plant a garden, you are planting hope. So in this time of Resurrection, let's give thanks for the resurrection occuring all around us. Jesus gave us hope, let us keep that hope alive.🙏🌱❤

Dia De Los Muertos is a beautiful celebration of the lives of our loved ones who have passed. Death is not an ending, but a continuation of our journey of life. The ofrenda, or altar, holds their photographs. Brightly decorated skulls remind us of the cycle of life. Monarch butterflies are believed to hold the spirits of the departed. And, most importantly, marigold or marigold petals, with their strong scent and vibrant colors are used to make a path from the cemeteries to their families' homes. I watched the Disney movie "Coco", a beautiful portrayal of this holiday. It is a great movie to share with your children at a time when you are housebound. By the way, we do sell the marigolds, as well as the plaques and vases. This is my personal ofrenda at our Violet Flower Shop.

Some of our newest arrivals shout SPRING IS HERE at Violet Flower Shop in Berwyn. Iron Cross Oxalis known as the "good luck plant" is actually comprised of 4 heart shaped leaflets with a burgundy cross making up the center. Although considered a St. Patrick's Day plant, this perennial is native to Mexico.
