This Christmas season the Port Royal Police Department will be accepting toy donations for less fortunate children to give to The Salvation Army. Donations can be made at the Police Department Lobby, where our drop box is located. Please ensure the toy, or toys are unwrapped, and in their original packaging. The box will be donated as it fills and the last day for donations will be December 14th.

Update — Officer Involved Shooting
The deputy involved in the domestic shooting incident this morning was air lifted to Memorial Hospital in Savannah. The deputy is currently recovering from surgery where possible bullet fragments or a pellet from a shot gun shell entered the eye.
The suspect also shot the female victim in the house, who was also flown to Memorial in Savannah. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a self inflicted gunshot wound. Because this is an officer involved shooting, SLED is on scene and will handle the investigation.
Thank you to the community for your prayers and concerns. Please continue to pray for the injured deputy and everyone involved. Thank you as well to Hardeeville PD, Ridgeland PD, and SCDNR for their assistance during this incident.

Thank you to Legacy Christian Academy and Step of Faith Christian Academy for allowing our deputies to share with your students today. Through the Hope, Dream, Chance, and Lucky event with Pet Smart, Lt. Smith, Sgt. Bailey, K9 Deputy Messer, and Deputy McCormick were able to share as Community Helpers with the students, as well as give some cheer in the form of a stuffed animal toy. We look forward to more opportunities like these to share with our students and youth of Jasper County.
