Forget groundhogs, we've got desert tortoises! When the weather starts to warm up, our tortoises sometimes take a little break from their brumation to pop out of their burrow and get some sun. They soon go back in, but it means temps are rising and spring is on the way! It's #GroundhogDay, AZ-style!

Zion National Park

Tomorrow’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday that is designated by Congress as a national day of service. Observed as “a day on, not a day off,” the holiday celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy and is designed to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
Celebrating the holiday early, some of Zion National Park’s local volunteers met last week with our Wildlife Division to adhere specialized decals to the first-story windows of twelve park homes. The newly installed stickers serve to break up the natural reflection of the glass and should decrease the number of harmful or even deadly bird/window collisions within the park.
