How lucky are we to have such a one of a kind maintenance man! Our resident Ron, was reaaaaaally craving a McDonald’s cheeseburger and pop for lunch and our maintenance man Kenny overheard him. Next thing you know, in he comes with Ron’s wish! Thanks Kenny for doing whatever it takes to keep our residents happy!

We have been excitedly planning a NFL Kick-off party for Wednesday, September 9th. We are encouraging all staff and residents to wear their team shirts, jerseys and tailgating gear. We also are going to begin a "Pick 'Em" contest for the month of September for both staff and residents with prizes for the winners of the week. Check back for pictures!

This month is a very special month as we continue our walk to end Alzheimer's Disease. Although the world might look a little different right now, one thing hasn't changed: our commitment to ending Alzheimer's. This years walk will be different. This years walk will be everywhere- on every sidewalk, track, and trail.
Because there will not be a large in-person walk, our Bickford Cedar Falls team encourages you all to walk in small groups with friends and family on Saturday, September 26th. If you would like to donate to our Bickford Cedar Falls team please contact our LEC Courtney, or follow the link below.

What do you do when a family calls needing immediate placement? What else? Put it into high gear, send the nurse to assess and start moving furniture! Spiders, ghosts and dragons... OH MY! We love Halloween and enjoy showing off our decorations. Since we can't have you in to see them, we are posting them so you can see the fun we are having! We had some great helpers and even better supervisors!

What a Spooktacular day!! We spent our afternoon tasting some delicious apples in honor of National Apple Month and after played some Halloween BINGO! What a busy, FUN, and full of laughs afternoon we had here at Bickford!

Happy Friday to all of our families and friends! We wanted to share with you some fun things we have been doing these past couple weeks.
November is National Family Caregivers Month. To some, the true meaning of Family means a group of people related by blood or ancestry. To us here at Bickford, it has nothing to do with genes and everything to do with love, compasion, and support. At Bickford, we are all Family.
We want to send a huge shout out to all of our wonderful, hard-working, compassionate BFMs. They go above and beyond for our residents and have been here through it all, especially during the difficult time when families could not be. Thank you to all of our Bickford Family Members for doing whatever it takes to keep our residents happy. We can not express our gratitude enough for each one of you. Here are some small things we did this month for our BFMs to show our appreciation. We love the unmeasurable amount of love you have for our residents. We truly have been blessed with the best.
Thank goodness for our hot cocoa machine! Endless amounts of hot chocolate will be consumed during these next few chilly months and we aren’t upset about it ;)
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are ending our night with the classic Charlie Brown Thanksgiving movie. Special thanks to our sweet bunch of BFMs who spent their holiday here at Bickford. Goodnight everyone!

As I strolled through the branch halls and visited in apartments this afternoon I noticed a few people with holiday cards. It reminded me of how important hand written cards were to my grandmother. She would read them several times a day and enjoyed them every time just as much as if it was the first. So as the holidays approach please consider sending a hand written Christmas card. I guarantee it will brighten a loved one’s day!

I always chuckle when I see a new resident move in that has a famous name. Over the years, we have had a Howard Johnson, a Patsy Cline, a Jesse James, a Bob Dylan and many more. I always wonder how their famous name affected them, and if they enjoyed it or if it ever became annoying.
Regardless of these names, or any other names that come through our doors, know that we treat everyone like a celebrity. All of our residents have movie star status, and I think they are all deserving of their name in lights.
Happy Birthday to our funny, kind, hard-working, doesn’t look a day over 25, maintenance man, Kenny! We are so lucky to have you as part of our Bickford Family!!

We ALL want our loved ones to be safe and healthy, and it's not selfish to want travel, concerts and gatherings back again.
