Martin shared his amazing story! Three days after high school he and 99 men were on their way to Germany. “We were scared 18 year olds ready to fight for our country” He very humbly said, “ I am not a hero.... there were 99 other men with me” What an honorable man!
We are so proud of our Veterans! Once a month we have Veterans Group. We found out it sure makes an hour fly!!! The camaraderie and bond between these men is amazing! Thank you for your service!
Fall art projects in our branch have us all in the fall spirit. Martha enjoyed making her “ polka dot pumpkin”.

Welcome Juana! Juana comes to us with 24 years of working in healthcare. Juana is excited to be part of the Gurnee team and ready to help in anyway. Juana has had many roles starting out as a CNA and today even helping out with housekeeping and maintenance. Her “ can do” and positivity is a great addition!

Welcome our “Joe of all Trades”! Joe was hired as a prep cook but has jumped in helping out with housekeeping and maintenance! Mary Bickford would be proud how he keeps everything clean and looking like home. Joe grew up in the area and loves bringing smiles to the residents. Most of all, he loves the smiles they bring to him! Welcome Joe!

The joys of doing today’s packet with Bev led us to her discussions about travel and reading. She especially enjoyed solving the world capitals sheet.
Marie is most thankful for her three daughters! Her placemat has a leaf for each of them!
Ginny also carries a bit of Mom in her purse! Recognize that tool? It was her mom’s used to pull up her laces everyday.
Stopping in Ginny’s room is such a delight! She is always chipper snd tells me of all the projects she’s catching up on! From filling out a new address book, writing notes to friends, playing solitaire, and more. While changing her bed today she told me the story of her beloved pillow! It was her Grandma’s then given to her Mom and now it’s her! We all need a little piece of Mom and Grandma!
The servant heart and kind soul of Marilyn and her late husband has been evident in the mail flowing in! Marilyn is delighted to hear from so many treasured friends!
Thanksgiving is one week away and I treasure hearing what everyone is thankful for!
It is a pleasure to have Laverne and her husband, Putt living here. With the amount of daily mail they receive I know how loved they are in their community! Their kindness has touched so many!

Two days and counting!!!!!!! Our BFM’S are getting ready for the BIG day and telling us why they are ready for the vaccine!!!!!! Edi is ready for the future but ALWAYS keeping in our hearts the precious residents we lost.
We would also like to let everyone know as we get ready for our vaccination day, we are also celebrating 50 days being COVID Free in our branch!
Only two days til vaccination day, and we are excited! Stay tuned for more of our reasons why we choose to vaccinate!
Exercise begins daily at 10:30. We currently have four programs we offer for a fun variety of of exercises . Gail, Bobbie, and Arlene never miss a class!
Always making us smile and laugh, Putt told us snow storms were a time for other drivers to stay away from him! He also said snowstorms were for cuddling and it brought him 2 fine young sons!
LaVerne said her favorite thing about snow is it gives her a chance to wear her favorite sweaters!
Judy was excited to see the pretty snow but said her favorite thing is it goes away eventually!
Happy Snow Day! When asked what Arlene loves about snow, she told us,”It’s so fresh, clean and nice! I should know I’ve shoveled plenty of it!”

We are blessed to live in a Village that takes good care of our citizens. Yesterday I received a call from the Gurnee Police Department checking in on our residents so they can be included in this great project!
