The flute was brought out again today! This time we were able to borrow a beginners flute book to trigger some memory!
Karin brought her French horn to play for the residents today. Many enjoyed hearing old hymns. One resident played French horn herself! Brought back a lot of fond memories playing in and in high school and college.
Gardening Station! We made beautiful floral arrangements while talking about gardening on the family farm.

This morning we got into the “Fall Spirit” and decorated Pumpkin Cookies! There were a lot of smiles as they indulged their sweet taste buds.

I had the privilege to do this lovely woman’s hair today! We talked about and reminisced about laying cards with other couples, how date nights can be hard for young families, and how we are both blessed with thick hair! It was truly a joy to spend one-on-one time with this sweet woman.
The salon was sure busy today! Our BFM, Youjay, is giving a fresh look to this wonderful resident. Youjay made this resident smile so much! Thank you!!
This wonderful man earned his 90th year today! He is so wonderful and kind-hearted. Bickford is sure blessed to have him with us! We love you! Happy birthday!

This morning we made “Witch’s Brooms!” String cheese and pretzels! Super easy and super fun.

We played Bocce ball with pumpkins! The ridges of the pumpkins made them bounce different directions, which made the game extra tricky. Yellow team won all four rounds!!
She decided Yellow team didn’t need to win anymore, so she went and picked up the closest ball. Haha.

Looking at recipes today, Joann said her favorite thing to make her family was a roast dinner. I said “you must of been a pretty good cook”, she replied “pretty good, I was a GOOD cook.” 😆 We decided we would plan a day to make a roast together in the crock pot. ❤️

We had quite a crowd for our cooking demonstration this morning. They approved of the no bake cookies.
One of our favorite things to do is play Wii games, today’s game of choice was Wheel of Fortune. We had a perfect game up until the final puzzle we just couldn’t figure it out. Sad part was we could have won a million dollars. We decided 36,000 was still a good chunk of money. 😂

Happy Birthday to Sandy! Sunday is Sandy’s birthday and we just couldn’t wait to celebrate. I think her most favorite part of the gift was the birthday card. There is an adorable white dog on the front and she loves dogs! I’m not sure if she loves dogs more or if we love her more, but either way, we sure love her! Happy Birthday!
Happy Happy Birthday Verna! She’s celebrating her birthday on Sunday! I didn’t want to miss it so celebrating today it is! Verna’s smile can light up a room! She gives some of the best marriage advice as well. We are sure glad to have her here!

Did you know this man LOVES green?!?! While we were working on this ornament I KNEW I had to find him to make it with us. He didn’t care about the red heart sticker so much, but he was ecstatic to make his green ornament!

He isn’t a huge fan of crafting, but he loves a good puzzle! While we worked on ornaments, he worked on making as many words as he could from “Christmas!” I was pretty impressed how many words he came up with.
For Grinch Day we continued with making a fun Grinch ornament! Residents filled an empty bulb with fun green items, then we added a red heart sticker to the outside! We are hanging them on our resident Christmas tree.

Oh no! Ferocious dog attacks senior citizens! It looks like Sandy and Verna really seem to hate seeing this vicious creature. Really, I am pretty sure both of these amazing ladies would have taken the puppy, Luna, home with them.

This afternoon Mary B’s made an adorable Gingerbread village! Look how awesome it is! Definitely too good to eat!
Although for now she can’t join us in person, she was still able to decorate cookies!! We had some great conversation and 1-on-1 time too!

Sal and I took advantage of the opportunity to get a picture together! She rocked the jewelry, mask, and shirt! Sarah then made us all virgin mimosas after we finished our champagne. It was so good!
The Life Enrichment Team had to get a group shot in the photo booth. We sure have a wonderful time working with the residents at Bickford! Bennetta got involved in our photo booth as well while serving our residents dinner during the party.

I love how much her face lights up whenever our BFM pups come for a visit.

We played Pictionary this afternoon! I am not sure if more guessing the drawings were happening, or making fun of my drawings! Haha!
Norma used to be a piano teacher. After playing a bit on her own she wanted me to play. She’s definitely still a teacher! Once a music teacher, always a music teacher.
We had a nice drive this afternoon. We visited the sculpture park in downtown Des Moines. We even drove by the governor’s mansion. It was so nice to get out.

Unforgettable moment today. Donnaloy mentioned to our RN coordinator, Liz, that she likes Zebra pens, and she likes to leave them around to think of her husband. Donnaloy’s husband loved those pens. Liz decided to help Donnaloy’s collection and add a couple new pens to the mix. It’s the little things.
