Instant Redwood forest. 😎
We got to plant beautiful, 40’ tall Green Mountain Sugar Maple for a really nice couple recently. The homeowner was kind enough to snap some pictures from his drone during the process and send us this after picture a couple of weeks later.
What a huge difference a big tree can make!
Wow! Sienna Glen Maple is really cool in the fall!
The fall colors on these Fern Leaf Full Moon Maples (yes, it’s a long name!) are gorgeous!
We’ve got a few Red Japanese Maples in stock, freshly dug. And a couple of chickens (not for sale) 😊
The Emerald Queen Maple just shows off in the fall. Our friend Joe Keller took this photo for us. He’s an incredible photographer and has some of his work featured in our office.

We are coming up on a great time for pruning trees. We will be busy here at the nursery pruning as leaves fall off and we lean further into fall.

It’s hard to capture the beauty and color of these Emperor Palmatum Maples. The colors this fall are just stunning!
We had some visitors out yesterday to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and the last sunny day. The colors this year have been amazing.
Here are some highlights 😊
Here is an October Glory Maple we planted a few years ago. It feels like it’s just showing off now 😊
You know what else is unprecedented? Seeing blossoms on a Kousa Dogwood with fall colors! We have been able to have a part in beautifying many landscapes during this difficult COVID season and we are thankful for each customer!
We choose to notice the blossom and fall colors, not the rain.
We did another “impossible” job this week. Our customer’s neighbor removed the evergreens on the property line, changing her back yard view from a private escape to an eye sore.
Our customer came to us in the late summer to see how bit a tree we could get up her steps and into her fairly inaccessible back yard. The photos tell the story of how hard our crew worked to get her privacy back.
At Big Trees Today we have some really nice trees. But we have exceptional people who will do anything they can to help out our wonderful customers.

Over the last 41 years we have been so thankful to provide mature trees for exceptional landscapes throughout the Pacific NW. This past fall we had the pleasure of providing mature trees for chimpanzee habitat at the Oregon Zoo! Here are some pictures of our trees in the newly completed "Chimp Mesh Habitat."
New truck for deliveries coming soon! Isn’t she a beauty? We’re thankful our friends at PDX Wraps made this so easy.
Happy New Year! Can’t wait to get back at it in 2021 and keep beautifying the Pacific Northwest one big tree at a time.
It’s tree transplanting season! Here the crew has hand dug hundreds of our younger trees to move them on to larger spacing. This is our second root pruning on most of these trees.
Sometime in the next 3-15 years these trees will bring beautiful shade, color, and value to many homes around the Pacific Northwest.
One of our big Camellias is blooming! Spring must be on its way (in two months- but who’s counting?)
It’s tree planting season here at Big Trees Today. It’s always an exciting time of the year as we anticipate this year’s growth. How many landscapes will we get to beautify this year?
Signs of life! Spring is coming!
Now doesn’t seem like the best time to pick out trees. It’s hard to tell what these beauties will look like with their foliage on. But this is prime time for dogging and transplanting! Plus, when you pick your trees out this time of the year you get to see the structure of the tree. Foliage comes and goes, but structure lasts.
It is either tragic or comical that someone thought this pruning job was a good idea. I can imagine this thing scares the heck out of people at night. #sweetdreams

The new beast is finished. We can now haul a billion pounds of trees and pull a trailer hauling an aircraft carrier. That may be an exaggeration but only a little. This RAM 5500 max tow is a monster and we can’t wait to get it dirty planting trees.
Are trees amazing? Yes they are! Check out this quick post about the incredible Redwood!

We’re moving some big ones today! Thanks, Green Acres Landscaping for the work today. They’re building a new Boys and Girls Club in Salem and wanted to save these big old Japanese Maples.
