Friends and Clients - for whatever reason, WOW! Communications has been experiencing “technical problems” with its phone service and our phones have been down. Despite my interesting history with phone companies in the past regarding financial obligations, the phone has not been “cut off” for non-payment.
If you need to reach us, please email me at bill@billbuchananlaw.com or call me on my cell phone at (706) 332-2780, 24/7. We apologize for any inconvenience.
I hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Friends: One question that has come up recently in light of the current coronavirus health crisis is the effect of Court closures and limited Court access on pending client cases. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia has issued an Order declaring a Statewide Judicial Emergency which will be in effect until April 13, 2020, which Order addresses the coronavirus crisis and makes certain allowances for claimants during this time period of limited Court access. Please rest assured that we have our finger on the pulse of each of our clients’ cases during this time and are monitoring these developments closely. While the current health crisis has presented unique and unprecedented challenges for us all, we remain open (working remotely) and are available virtually 24/7 to answer any client questions or questions regarding potential new representation. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.
We are thrilled that we were able to wrap up another great result this morning — a $250,000.00 total settlement recovery amount on behalf of Joe & Loretta Nunnally of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Nunnally were sideswiped by a negligent driver while they were taking part in a funeral procession here in Columbus. The final recovery obtained from the uninsured motorist carrier was more than 16 times the amount of the initial offer. We are very grateful to be able to work for so many great clients like Mr. and Mrs. Nunnally!

Friends: It has been brought to my attention that someone nationwide using the name “Attorney Bill Buchanan” has been offering AHR (American Home Resource) grants and/or loans and awards. They are not using my picture or my specific contact information but are generically going by the name “Attorney Bill Buchanan,” just as someone might go by the name “Attorney John Smith.”
This law firm is IN NO WAY INVOLVED with AHR loans or grants (or any other financial assistance program(s), we do not endorse this or any such program(s), we do not know anything about this person or program, and, based on what we have been told, the whole AHR grant being offered by “Attorney Bill Buchanan” may be a scam.
Please proceed with extreme caution in dealing with this or any other program(s) offering free money in exchange for personal information. As the age-old adage goes, “[i]f something seems to good to be true, it probably is.”

Can driving too slow be dangerous?

3 Reasons To Avoid Slow Driving
In 1736, Benjamin Franklin famously told the people of Philadelphia that “[a]n ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This has never been more true than now, as our world is embroiled in an international pandemic. But this phrase holds true in more ways than you might think.
I see it happen everyday - a potential client calls my office to tell me that he/she has been seriously injured in a car wreck and needs surgery...but the at-fault idiot who hit and seriously injured him/her only had the bare minimum of insurance coverage ($25,000.00 per person/$50,000.00 per occurrence in Georgia). The potential client is in terrible condition and relentless pain, but because the injuries occurred in a car wreck, the victim’s own health insurance won’t cover the surgery.
So, in short, an innocent person has been seriously injured and likely has no option but to either live with the pain or to proceed with expensive surgery and potentially incur life-altering debt (maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars) from which the person may never recover. And unless the victim has been injured in an accident caused by Warren Buffett, the meager $25k/$50k insurance policy of the penniless tortfeasor covers very little of the damage, especially after the person has paid fees and expenses to a lawyer to recover the insurance money. Add to that scenario the fact that approximately 10-15% of people driving on the roads in Georgia have ZERO INSURANCE. It is truly a heartbreaking situation. It ruins lives.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THIS STATE SHOULD PURCHASE $100k/$300K UM/UIM (UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE) ADDED ONTO THE COVERAGE OF HIS/HER OWN AUTO POLICY.
This is an absolute necessity. My understanding is that the cost off adding UM/UIM is really very minuscule (by way of example, if one has an $800/yr. policy, UM/UIM coverage may cost another $50-$100 per year...$5 - $8 per month). The cost is minimal to buy UM/UIM coverage but the cost of not having it - could be life-changing.
***NOTE: YOU MUST GET “ADD-ON”
UM/UIM COVERAGE - “REDUCING IN LIMITS” UM/UIM COVERAGE IS OFTEN VIRTUALLY USELESS.***
I implore everyone - PLEASE TALK TO YOUR INSURANCE AGENT ABOUT PURCHASING ADD-ON UM/UIM COVERAGE TODAY. It could literally save your life.
Jason Crawford and I are representing the descendants of individuals buried in the Historic Pierce Chapel African-American Cemetery. This cemetery contains the remains of African-Americans who lived in the area of Pierce Chapel in Midland, Harris County, Georgia (some of whom were slaves) dating back to the 1830’s. It is (or should be, with the proper remediation) truly a historic treasure for our community, but it has been badly neglected and several of the graves have even been desecrated and/or damaged due to the inexcusable actions of some. Please view the video and read the story below. This is a very important story! If you may be one of the descendants of those buried at this cemetery or if you have any information about what has happened at this cemetery, please contact us at (706) 641-2455. We want to learn about who is buried there and what has happened there, so that we can help the descendants obtain dignified burial sites and due respect for their ancestors.
