Cabarrus County Courthouse closed Monday after two positive COVID-19 cases
We want to tell our clients, first and foremost, be safe! As you may know, Cabarrus County and Mecklenburg County have issued a "Stay at Home" Proclamation. Many people have contacted us about how to handle custody transitions pursuant to those proclamations. Both Cabarrus and Mecklenburg have deemed travel to follow a custody order "essential travel", thus exempting it from the stay at home rules.

NC courts ordered to postpone district, superior court proceedings
In an effort to reduce the exposure caused by a crowded courtroom, local courts have been postponed in district and superior court for at least 30 days, effective Monday, March 16. The Judicial Branch will provide updates on their website, please visit this page to determine if a question can be answered without calling the local courthouse.

As the courts work to postpone thousands of cases, court officials will notify parties and their attorneys of new hearing and trial dates.
