September 18 at 1:46 PM · 💫✨Birth is magic ✨💫 No matter how your baby was born into this world, that moment your baby is placed on your chest is unlike any other. There is a transcendence to time and space. There is a palpable shift in energy within the room. All is still and quiet. A new soul has arrived. A million emotions, a beautiful mess, and an indescribable love story that begins to unfold. Meeting you, Juno, was simply: everything. 🌈💕 Birth Video can be found here: https://youtu.be/VwuNnae3E_g 🙏📸: Sara Clance Photography Midwife: 🤰 Dreaming Tree Women’s Care #homebirth #waterbirth #birthwithoutfear #normalizebirth #letsstayhome #3boys1girl

What was really effective for you during labor? We often have new parents that have never labored before, and we’d love for you to leave a note of encouragement for them to read.
National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM) September 28 at 7:29 AM · Repost from @darettafaylynn • “Becoming a mother makes you activate strengths you didn’t know you had and deal with fears you didn’t know existed.” Having a home water birth was THE best decision I’ve ever made! I’m extremely happy with my experience. No epidural, no medication, no complications! I knew God created my body for this moment and he carried me through my labor and delivery! I can’t thank HIM enough! I am forever grateful for my midwife and my support team. I went into labor the day of my moms birthday at 7am with my contractions every 7 mins apart. Of course that didn’t stop the plans I made for her! We still went out and enjoyed her birthday and at 6:02am the next morning we had a baby. After my delivery I was able to delay clamping of the umbilical cord (1 hour after birth), enjoy a relaxing herbal bath with my new born and encapsulate my placenta! My strength has no limit after this experience!!! #naturalbirth #homebirth #waterbirth #blackwomenbirthing #blackwomenbirthingnaturally #blackmoms @blackwomenbirthing @blackmomskillingit

✨ Transition ✨ • This is the most intense and shortest part of labor. Your cervix will finish dilating and your baby moves further down in preparation for you to push her into the world. • Transition is where your focus begins to falter, it feels like you aren’t getting a break in between contractions and you feel out of control. • You’ll feel a lot of pressure, your water may break if it hasn’t already, you’ll doubt your ability to birth your baby, and you’ll feel like you just can’t do this anymore. • This phase of labor is the time where you’ll need the most support - emotionally, mentally and physically. You’ll need to stay focused on the moment and how much work you’re doing to bring your baby Earthside. You’ll need reassurance that it’s really almost over and you’ll soon meet your baby. • Find your inner Elsa and just let it go.
This. Is. Magical. 👑 @magnoliagreyimages this is such an INCREDIBLE work of art. 🔥

Repost from @healthy.pregnancy • Upright laboring and pushing positions tend to result in better birth outcomes, mainly due to increased movement and use of gravity. But, not every movement or position opens the pelvis in the same way! Deep squats tend to support helping baby engage, or enter the pelvis, but would close the outlet (bottom of pelvis) which may not be optimal for pushing. And a high squat, where the hips are pushed back w a neutral spine, and the knees knock in, would open the bottom of the pelvis more. This would be more optimal for pushing! #healthypregnancy @mamastefit

Repost from @ladybirdpt • Yesterday I asked y’all what you wanted to see more of on this page and so many of you asked how to know if you have pelvic floor tension and what to do about it. So what makes a pelvic floor tight? Your pelvic floor may be tight because you have a background as an athlete, yogi, or Pilates buff (what do you call someone who does Pilates?) it may be tight because you had a tear during childbirth or a c-section. It may be tight because you’re a jaw clencher, glute clencher, or have a past ankle, knee or hip injury. The list goes on. The best way to determine if you have pelvic floor tension is to see a pelvic floor PT who can evaluate you. However because I know that’s not an option for everyone, this video shows you a couple signs and symptoms you may experience if you have tension in your pelvic floor. As for what you can do about it, check out today’s stories. And if you’re in Austin and are wondering the status of your pelvic floor, come on in and see us for an evaluation!

✨Knowledge is power and it’s important to know what your options for prenatal testing are. The NIPT is a prenatal screening tool that allows us to determine the risk of your baby having certain chromosomal abnormalities.

Yep. Feeling this post from @_happasamother⁣ ⁣ Last night I was trying to cook dinner, clean my toddlers dirty lunch containers from school all while one child was trying to tell me a story (in his screaming voice), my other child was trying to ask me a question (in her screaming voice), also while I’m holding my baby who wants to be held YET is doing that typical 8 month old thing where they push off your body with both feet and hands trying to fling themselves at whatever hazard is around. ⁣ ⁣ This was just one 5 minute glimpse into the chaos that is my evenings these days. #momlife⁣
The twins are here, the twins are here!!! 👶🏽👶🏽🥳🥳Weighing 6lb8oz and 7lbs even, these gorgeous girls were born to their incredibly strong mother, who achieved her goal of a third time unmedicated VBAC! Baby A came easily and quickly vertex and Baby B remained transverse, but was skillfully turned to footling breech via internal version. A HUGE thanks to Dr. Nix of @setonwomenshealthsouth for facilitating the delivery and supporting our client in the birth she desired.

👋 Hello to our beautiful Birthwise community! A sweet refugee family is in need of some support. The ask is specifically for a baby boy. New or gently used items can be dropped off on the birth center porch between now and Friday. Anything extra will be redistributed to other families in need of community support.
Almost 10k parents responded to this informal poll and the record shows that most of those kiddos still wake through the night. 😴 From @lucywebber_ibclc I asked on my fb page if your little one wakes and/or feeds at night and their age bracket. This was an informal poll and is most definitely not scientific in any way! But did have nearly 10 thousand responses so will hopefully reassure you that you're not alone. #nightwaking #nightfeeding #nightfeeds #normalisenightwaking #normalisebreastfeedingtosleep #normalisenightwaking #nightimeparenting
