The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve and escalate around the world and here at home. In light of this, we would like to take this opportunity to assure our community and our clients that we are monitoring this dynamic situation closely. We will continue to take prudent actions based on current and future recommendations from the CDC. Our #1 goal is to protect the health of our team members and our clientele... while still being able to provide the care our beloved pets will also be needing for as long as possible. Through this crisis, your pets health remains a priority. At this time, the coronavirus does not seem to be affecting dogs and cats, which is a good thing. However, that doesn't mean the virus still cannot survive on their fur. Effective immediately, both clinics will taking measures to limit human interaction and practice social distancing within the hospitals. To do so, we will be implementing Curbside Drop Off. When you arrive, you will check-in via your cellular phone, and when it is your turn, the staff will come out to you and bring your pet in while you comfortably wait in your car. The doctors will then examine your pet, call you with diagnostics and/or treatment recommendations, and we will then take payment over the phone and return your pet back to your vehicle when everything is completed. As well, we are currently exploring a telemedicine platform (as long as your pet has been seen in hospital over the past one year), that would allow us to video conference with our clients about their pet, in order to diagnose and treat minor issues. We will keep you updated on this. We strongly recommend that you have an adequate supply of medications for your pet on hand. For those of you that need it, we will temporarily fill an additional 30 day supply of medications for your pet so you have enough on hand if worse comes to worse. If you need a prescription refill please call or email the office directly. Please be patient and understanding, it might take a few days to get your medications ordered and to the hospital. Similar to the policy for appointments, when you arrive to pick up your pets medication or food, call us and we will take payment over the phone and then bring the medications/food out to your vehicle. We will continue to consistently monitor the situation, to adjust and evolve protocols as needed. We can't control everything. What we can control, as always, is how we all respond. What matters is not what other people are doing or have done, but what you do. That means keeping up to date with the latest advice from the World Health Organization, Federal and State governments. Don’t think you’re the exception. Don’t do things that benefit you, at the expense of others. If you feel sick, stay at home. Stay at home even if you don’t feel sick. Do your part. The goal now is to flatten the curve and to slow the spread of the virus to prevent unnecessary overloading of medical professionals, emergency services, and other critical infrastructure, so that the people who actually need it can access it. No one individual can accomplish this by themselves, but each of us, acting rightly, collectively, can make a big difference. Stay Healthy! Sincerely, Dr. Jay Epping & the entire staff of the Blaine Area Pet Hospital and Coon Rapids Pet Hospital
