So you've probably heard the term "dentin" thrown around here and there but what exactly is it?
Well, the dentin is the part of the tooth that's below the enamel and cementum. It has small microscopic tubules that allow heat and cold or acidic and sticky food to stimulate the nerves and cells inside the tooth, which is what you experience as sensitivity.
It also provides support to the enamel and protects the pulp of your tooth.

What do you do if you experience a dental emergency?
Stop, drop, and roll? Write out S.O.S in the sand? Call 911? What do you exactly do if you experience a dental emergency?
First, stay calm and contact us as soon as possible. Next, hold your tooth just by the crown (which is the part that is used to chew food) and gently rinse with water. Be sure not to agitate the tooth or tissue that surrounds the tooth, and do not use any other substance to rinse aside from water.
If your tooth fell out, the best way to preserve it is to hold it in the socket that it came from. If this is not viable, then place the tooth in a container of milk and rinse your mouth gently with warm water.

If you have sensitive teeth to cold/hot temperatures we help recommend sensodyne as it contains potassium nitrate(helps soothe tooth pain) and stannous fluoride(helps protect the enamel). It does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) an ingredient in toothpaste the makes it foamy when you brush and can irate teeth and gums.
