Bloomington Garden Center & Landscape Co. updated their business hours.
Thank you to all who came out to clear our shelves. All plants are gone. We will be sending a check for $500.00 to VEAP.

So Let’s Make a Deal for VEAP! We are so grateful for all of our customers. Gardening was a big part of people’s lives this year. Our remaing inventory is quite small - so we would like to have a one day sale for VEAP. Come clear our shelves to fill theirs! I have attached pictures and a list of what is left for plants. All pottery 20% off and pay what you feel is reasonable for the plants. All money will go to VEAP! We will be open 9-1 tomorrow Saturday September 19. We will not hold plants.
Then we will close for the season and be back for Spring of 2021.

50 Years of Earth Day Celebration

A beautiful morning.
We have not had the Chenille plant for awhile. It is a great thriller in a pot. Add Bacopa - lemon grass - a crazy petunia - the sunflower I mentioned a few days ago - and BAM a great planter.
Lemon Thyme. Sun lover - deer and rabbit resistant. It does get planted near walk ways and between pavers - as a stepable. When touched - it releases that lovely lemon scent.
I would place this in a planter in a heavy trafficked area - and make sure to "bump" into it - just to have that heavenly scent.
Oh - you can use it in cooking too!
French Tarragon! With a scent similar to anise and the swee of licorice - I would use this in a planter - right by my front door. Wouldn't it be great to have that scent great you?? The plants grow to a height of 24 to 36 inches and spread across 12 to 15 inches apart. Use it as a thriller/filler. #tarragon #BGCLC

We are adding more herbs this year. Sage Berggarten is a beautiful plant - that you could easily slip into a planter. I sure wish I could smell it.
The bright green growth of the new leaves becomes a soft downy gray older growth. Grown in full sun the plant develops a purplish cast.
Marigolds are flowers that people either love or hate. No in-between. Like a sports team - you are for the Bucs or the Chiefs on Sunday - or for the 'I do not care who wins but the commercials better be good" team.
Marigolds are just tried and true. They are sturdy - so very bright - and dependable. This year we are adding a new one - and I think it might sway some of those who avoid marigolds - Strawberry Blonde will be on the shelf soon!
When warmer, blooms are yellow-pinks; when cooler: pink-plum tones kick in. Mounded, indestructible 8-10" plants infuse the sun-splashed border or container with a long season of colorful cool warmth. Creates island of color planted en masse in drifts.
I predict a new sell out!
We have stocked Vinca for years. It requires heat - so it is not always blooming in May when everyone is buying plants with color. If you have a hot and dry spot - Vinca would be your best friend. The waxy green leaves and bright happy faces prefer that growing condition. Take care not to overwater this plant; it's easily susceptible to root rot.
Annual vinca doesn't require deadheading, or the removal of faded flowers, to continue blooming, making it a wonderfully low-maintenance annual flower for sun.
And look at that color! Plan on buying a green plant in May so you can have all that color mid June - frost.
