Virginia Department of Transportation‎VDOT Fredericksburg District October 4 at 1:48 PM · After a few quiet weeks, there are a LOT of I-95 lane closures scheduled this week. Many are overnight, but expect I-95 northbound daytime delays at the Rappahannock River bridge at Fredericksburg for a routine inspection this Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Route 1 northbound at Falmouth Bridge in Fredericksburg will also be reduced to a single lane on Monday-Friday from 9-3:30 p.m. for a routine inspection. Both southbound lanes of Route 1 at Falmouth Bridge will remain open. See all our work zones here: bit.ly/36C09Ut Overnight this week, there are northbound and southbound lane closures on I-95 near Exit 133 (Route 17), as crews place beams for a new Truslow Road overpass at mile marker 134 in Stafford County. This new bridge is being built to accommodate construction of two new 95 Express Lanes in the median, which will open to traffic in late 2022 between the Garrisonville Road area and just north of Route 17. And, on Rt. 17 in Stafford this week, temporary traffic signals will be activated in flash mode on Monday, Oct. 5 near the I-95 southbound ramps, to allow drivers to adjust to their presence. Traffic signals will be placed in full color overnight Wednesday, Oct. 7-Thursday, Oct. 8. The signals are needed because two I-95 loop ramps are closing long-term that evening to allow for demolition and reconstruction of the I-95 southbound overpass at Route 17. All southbound traffic exiting to Route 17 will use a single off-ramp, and the temporary signal will control traffic turning left to Route 17 southbound and the Falmouth intersection. Watch a simulation video of the new ramp pattern: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgLioteG0y8&feature=youtu.be I-95 southbound traffic will be shifted onto the new I-95 southbound bridge built in the median on Tuesday, Oct. 13-Wednesday, Oct. 14. This change is part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing, which is adding three new southbound lanes to I-95 from north of Exit 133 to south of Exit 130 at Route 3 in Fredericksburg. Opens to traffic by May 2022.
