What are these? These are surgical guides. We 3D print both the models and the guides using specialty resins. Combining precise 3D models and x-rays makes this possible, something we offer at Blue Sky Family Dentistry. The guides allow us to very precisely place dental implants and, as in this case, the patient only took Tylenol the night of and didn’t need anything the next day. For my dental friends out there you’ll see some minor modifications to the guide tubes in order to facilitate the guide placement in otherwise difficult and narrow spaces. We got out on the rocks at #zilkerpark this weekend. It still makes me nervous 😅 when this big girl climbs all over the rocks but she had a blast. It was nice to get out and stretch our legs a bit. Where are your favorite outdoor spaces these days?
Can you guess which one is the dental implant? This is a #straumann implant with a zirconia abutment and crown. It’s amazing how lifelike they can be. The crown was made by @lifelikedentalstudio a local lab here in Texas.

One of my favorite things about Texas is the wildflowers. They’re prolific, and they bloom not only in the Spring but in the Fall as well. It’s second Spring! After the rain a couple of weeks ago the trail behind the dental office really lit up with color. My brain space is too crowded with tooth related stuff so I don’t know the names of any of these flowers or what makes them unique. Any botanists or gardners out there able to help?

No, but this is a technique we use to limit how much cement gets around a cement-retained #dentalimplant This is critical because failure to do so is one of the main reasons implants fail. COur gums and the bone around dental implants don’t take too kindly to cement so this is a way to get a good outcome. Based on this patient’s smile line it is hard to tell one tooth is an implant and the other is natural. Natural results are always the goal at Blue Sky Family Dentistry.
This patient came to us solely for delivery of the crown. In this case the dental implant was placed elsewhere, along with the adjacent dental work.

Be careful where you put your #aligners Pets love to play with them/eat them so make sure you put them in your aligner case. If you lose your #aligner case please give us a call, and we’ll give you a new one!
This sneaky little kitty almost got this pair of aligners but we caught her stalking them just in time.
Because we make our aligners in-house now, if your pet does manage to make your aligners disappear don’t worry, we can easily print you a new pair within a couple days so you won’t need to worry about any delay in your treatment.

We did a thing! This young lady kept bumping her front teeth and unfortunately we weren’t able to save the front two. Fortunately we have an amazing @nextdent 5100 3D printer and we’re able to make her a Maryland bridge across the front. Swipe right to see the new smile.
