Good morning, weather peeps. I bring good tidings for those clinging to hope of an early taste of autumn. We're well accustomed to the humidity and the afternoon showers, and that's good because today through Friday will be a continuation of these things. Normally, we get what I call the first autumn cold front during the 2nd or 3rd week of September. This year, it's coming early. It's coming just in time for Labor Day weekend, in fact. Really, we could not ask for a better weekend. (Well, we could, but we wouldn't get it.) Beginning Saturday and lasting for the foreseeable future, Middle Tennessee can expect below normal temperatures and less humidity. A second cold front looks to come through early next week to reinforce the cooler temperatures, and the GFS & Euro models both bring a much stronger system barreling through the mid state during the middle of next week to preserve the cool snap. You can see below both the 6-10 day and 8-14 day temperature outlooks which show a giant area of blue covering the central U.S., and this includes Middle Tennessee. This means below normal temperatures persisting until at least the middle of September. Now, don't think this is going to be a summer slayer. We all know summer doesn't let go easily. (Remember the record-setting heat wave that lasted into October last year.) Sure, we'll probably have a warm spell or two later in the month. We always do. But we won't worry about that for awhile. Let's sweat it out 4 more days and then enjoy some cooler weather.
