Braza Grill is owned by J.R. Lopez, a native of Brazil who has lived in Utah for more than a dozen years.
Lopez originally opened an import store aptly named Made in Brazil, but decided he could make more money with a restaurant. After selling his import store he opened Braza Grill, a churrascaria modeled after barbeque restaurants in his homeland, with a buffet of hot and cold foods and meats hot off the grill, carried about the room by servers who slice off as much as diners want.
It’s not a unique concept in the United States or Utah. A wave of churrascaria fever has swept the nation since around 1999.
