Quick personal story for my pet owners on how Allstate can protect more than just your Auto, Home & Life insurance needs. This is my dog Gus, he's a 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog. He's like most dogs. Loves any food he can get his paws on, pretending he's still a lap dog at 60 pounds, squeaky toys while I work from home, fetch, and unfortunately eating things he isn't supposed to. Two months ago, we had a big scare when he couldn't keep any of his food down for two days. He's a puppy who eats every meal like it's his last and runs around after so didn't think much of it day one. Day two he was having trouble keeping down water and his stomach was growling loud enough to keep me up that night. We took him to the ER where they did X-Rays and found a foreign object in his stomach. This also caused part of his intestines to swell so the clinic suspected there may be another object they couldn't see. Luckily there wasn’t and it was only a sock he had ingested. Once the surgery was done, he had to be in a cone for two weeks and had an incision over six inches long on his belly that had to be stapled shut. We were also told to keep him as calm as possible...which was impossible. Lucky for us he's a trooper and I’m convinced he had no clue anything had even happened. He even broke out the kitchen by jumping the five-foot makeshift barrier we created the next day so he could lay on his favorite couch cushion. The way most animal clinics are run, you as a pet owner must pay for the surgery up front before they will even operate. The procedure Gus had was about $3,800. The plan I selected has a $500 annual deductible, which after I pay 10% of all remaining costs up to a max of $10,000 from the insurance. Once the claim process finalized which was a little over two weeks, I only paid $830 out of pocket, and the insurance picked up $2,970. If anything, else were to happen this year, I don’t have to pay any more deductibles and still have $7,030 towards my annual total. This policy only cost me about $35 per month and that rate is locked in since I started the policy when he was 4 months old. The application process is easy, and the claim process was painless. He has since made a full recovery and still comes in to help me in the office occasionally. We do a better job of making sure laundry hampers are behind a closed door since he’s tall enough to grab things out of them. Make sure you have this protection in place so you can relieve any financial burden that furry little friends can cause us. AGENTS.ALLSTATE.COM Find Insurance Agents Near You | Allstate
