This week is Fire Prevention Week, normally the SVFD heads out to all local schools, daycares and more, to get the word out about fire safety, giving classes and presentations.
This year, COVID-19 has definitely given the SVFD some unique challenges, with issues such as social distancing. Plus many schools are very limited on their schedules, attempting to catch up academically from the last year’s almost absent school year.
This years fire prevention week’s theme is “Serve up fire safety, in the kitchen “
To make sure SVFD still gets the message out. This year the SVFD put together our own fire safety video along with Brian Schlesinger, our sponsoring partner from State Farm insurance.
Either presented in the classroom or at home for those being home schooled. Children and adults can all be sure to learn about fire safety.
Please take a look and share, the video is linked on our YouTube Channel.
Thank you for everyone’s continued support of the Scott Volunteer Fire Department.

Scott Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Prevention Week 2020.
Wow, 15 years! In 2004 I made the decision to leave teaching and coaching and pursue business ownership as a State Farm Agent. I am so very thankful for State Farm agent Terry Bertrand and Kendall Fontenot for giving me an opportunity to work as a Financial Services Representative in their offices. In 2005 I was hired to be a New Market State Farm Agent in Beaumont, Texas, and built an agency from the ground up. In 2010, I was promoted to a management position working with all the agents and team members in the Southeast Texas Territory.
These last five years, my family and I have transitioned back into agency and are proudly continuing the incredible legacy that Mr. Wayne Burton started in Scott, Louisiana. I absolutely love what I do, where I do it, and the people I do it with! I have never felt better about my future with this great company. Thank you, State Farm!! God has blessed us tremendously!!!
Don’t forget to Geaux Vote! 🇺🇸

Today we honor one of our nation’s great leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The beginning of the year is always an exciting time. I love planning for the new year!!
This week, our team spent valuable time together, getting to know and understand each of our individual strengths. Alexis Ducorbier leads us through a great meeting as we learned more about what makes our team unique. I highly recommend AMD Coaching and her services for anyone interested in building a stronger team! Thank you, Alexis!!
