Homeowners! Choosing the right kind and knowing how to store your firewood is something you will want to remember as the temperatures continue to drop and winter is just around the corner. Some helpful tips include:
➡️ The type of wood matters less than how dry the wood is.
➡️ If you have to burn wood with more moisture, be sure to have the chimney inspected more often.
➡️ Don’t burn any wood that’s been treated or painted. They can emit toxic fumes into the home.

#FirePreventionWeek 2020 from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is ongoing! The theme this year is “Serve up fire safety in the kitchen™!”
The CSIA would like to remind homeowners that cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
Tips for avoiding a cooking fire:
➡️ Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, boiling, grilling, or broiling food.
➡️ Always keep a lid nearby when cooking.
➡️ Keep anything that can catch fire away from your stovetop.
➡️ Have a “kid-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove.
