Hear from Andrew Clark on what makes Greenfield Healthcare Center a #CaringCommunity.
We're thankful for our friends over at NeighborCare of Chapel Hill not just on #NationalGoodNeighborDay, but every day.
The smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone's wellbeing.
Since the pandemic, many of our residents have been in need of haircare services. The team over at Petersburg Healthcare Center worked together to provide haircuts for our residents to bring back some normalcy to their day. ❤️
We're looking for those who show up for more than just a paycheck––the ones who wake up and attack the day with a sense of purpose. The ones who want to make a difference in the lives of others.
Are you ready to be a #TrueBlueHero? Let's talk.

Dixon Healthcare has a caring tree for residents and staff to enjoy! This tree represents happiness, caring, and compassion.
Each month a different organization will sponsor the decorations. This month's sponsor is Abby Manni from Charity Hospice. Thank you for all that you do!
“If you allow yourself to feel, you’ll change this job into a mission.”
-Stephen Rosedale, CEO and Founder of CommuniCare.
The team at Ellicott City Healthcare Center took a page out of NeighborCare of Chapel Hill's book on National Good Neighbor Day last month.
The team set up a table to hand out coffee, donuts, breakfast bars, and water for the local morning walkers.
Small acts can go a long way.
Dixon Healthcare recently had a Mum Sale in conjunction with our neighbor, Patriot Tap House, to benefit the Alzheimer's Association!
We sold 75 mums and will be donating $535 to a cause that means so much to us.
Remember, friends don't let friends touch their face masks!
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
The Colony Healthcare Center recently hosted an event for residents, families, and the community to "chalk the walk".
Thank you to all who participated and made this such a wonderful event. Your creativity boosted our morale more than you know.
The team over at Bridgewater Healthcare Center has been recently hosting pet adoption days, where residents can pick a pet from the adoption cart and show them around the facility to meet their friends.
Here are some of the residents showing off their new companions!
The folks at NewVista Healthcare put together a few quick tips on how to help maintain and improve the mental wellness of you or your loved ones. The first tip is to simply be grateful.
Gratitude opens the door to new relationships, enhances empathy, reduces aggression, improves sleep schedules, self-esteem, and does good beyond what we can list here.
Keep a running list of the good things throughout your day and surround yourself with them.
What qualities in your coworkers, friends, or families are you grateful for? Identify those qualities and tell them. It will brighten their and your day.
Join Baldwin Health Center on Saturday, October 24, from 1-4 p.m. for their very first Trunk or Treat event!
We're asking families, local vendors, and the community to partake in this fun event. We'll have designated spots in our parking lot and will be abiding by all health and safety protocols. Masks and social distancing are required.
For more information, call 412-885-8400.
Canfield Healthcare Center would like to wish their activity director, Harriet Wiker, the very best on the new adventures that life has in store for her as she leaves us to move closer to family.
Harriet has been with us for 15 years and will be sorely missed by her residents and team.
Thank you for all that you have done, Harriet, the positive impact you've made is one we'll never forget. 💙
We're throwing it back to our #RainbowOfService this past summer.
The very same glimmer of hope from a rainbow at the end of a storm is the same hope that lies within each and every one of our #TrueBlueHeroes. 🌈
Dixon Healthcare Center would like to thank this month's sponsor for their Caring Tree.
Resa Arno from Amedisys Hospice provided some spooktacular decorations for our residents.
The Caring Tree has been a great hit with our residents, thank you for your generosity!
Salem North Healthcare Center will be hosting a community Trunk or Treat event this Wednesday, October 28, from 6-8 p.m.

Vaccines currently in the U.S. won’t cause you to test positive on viral tests, which are used to see if you have a current infection.
If your body develops an immune response, which is the goal of vaccination, there is a possibility you may test positive on some antibody tests. Antibody tests indicate you had a previous infection and that you may have some level of protection against the virus. Experts are currently looking at how COVID-19 vaccination may affect antibody testing results.

Winter wellness tip number one!
Your body needs sufficient rest to stay happy and healthy. This is especially important when the days grow shorter and become colder.
Listen to your body and get some rest.
With shorter days and colder weather, winter can be a challenging time of the year for many.
We've compiled some helpful winter wellness tips from the folks over at NewVista Healthcare to help your mind, body, and spirit amidst a stressful time. We'll be sharing them this week.
What's your winter wellness routine?
None of the vaccines currently in development in the United States use the live virus that cause COVID-19. There are several different types of vaccines in development, however, the goal for each of them is to teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19.
Sometimes this process can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are a sign that the body is building immunity.
It typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after vaccination. That means it’s possible a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and get sick. This is because the vaccine has not had enough time to provide protection
Ready to make your job a mission this new year?

Besides the damage to your lungs, cigarette smoke reduces the oxygen in your blood, causing your heart to work harder to supply enough oxygen to your brain.
E-cigarettes pose a similar risk as chemicals in tobacco can damage your heart and blood vessels.
It’s not too late to quit. After a year without cigarettes, your risk of developing cardiovascular disease drops to almost half of that of a regular smoker.

Happy #WorldSleepDay! 😴 🛌 Getting quality sleep is important for both your physical and mental health.
Here are 5️⃣ sleep habits you should be incorporating into your routine to better your chances of getting a good night's sleep:
1. Keep a regular schedule—try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, including weekends.
2. Create a good sleep environment, including a comfortable room temperature, minimal noise and sufficient darkness.
3. Keep track of habits that help you fall asleep, like listening to relaxing music or reading before bed. Repeat those activities each night.
4. Avoid caffeine and nicotine three to four hours before going to bed.
5. Limit alcohol before bed, as it can reduce sleep quality.

"It's not easy being green." - Kermit the Frog
Actually, it can be! Let's talk greens. A good rule of thumb is to aim for 2 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables each day. One good place to start: with these four delicious and nutrient-packed green foods:
🥬 Kale: kale is good for your bones, offering 24 mg of calcium per cup.
🥑 Avocado: although many of us think of this as a vegetable it’s actually a fruit! This tasty fruit packs 690 mg of potassium.
🥦 Broccoli: broccoli offers high levels of immune system-boosting vitamin C, bone-strengthening vitamin K and folate.
🍈 Gooseberry: not just a funny name, these small but mighty fruits have several properties that aid blood sugar control.
