How to Have Healthy Eyes You look through your eyes to see the glorious world around you, and your eye doctor looks into your eyes to see a view of your health. In addition to spotting the signs of ocular disease, conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, and possibly your risk for Alzheimer’s can also be detected by an eye exam at your eye clinic.

Parkinson’s and your Eyes
A recent study based on U.S. Medicare records found that problems with vision are much more common in elderly people who suffer from Parkinson’s than in their peers. Additionally, these vision problems were associated with poorer general health outcomes. Data from more than 285,000 Parkinson’s patients were studied, and perhaps most noteworthy about all the results was that less than 60% of the people actually visited an eye clinic for yearly eye exams.

In 1824, 15-year-old Louis Braille created a reading and writing system for the blind and visually impaired, known as braille, in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet. His creation has played a major role in enabling the blind to experience more independence. Each year, on his birthday, we celebrate him and his life-changing invention.

WOW! It’s been quite a year hasn’t it?! 😰 What are you looking forward to the most in 2021?
Well, we made it to the last day of 2020. We started the year with such hope that this year was going to be the year of the eye doctor; the year of vision. It certainly was nothing we expected. As we reflect back, maybe it was the year of vision; the year we can take notice of all there is to be grateful for that we already have surrounding us. The year that when things felt the worst that laughter, smiles, and compassion from all around could rebuild some hope. It was not an easy year for us nor many of our extended Bright Eyes family. We are hopeful that 2021 will be a better year for all. That it will be a year of positivity, healing, and a return to some normalcy, but let us not forget what we have learned from 2020...... the many reasons to be grateful that are all around us.
