Our Kindergarten class has been hard at work with our Math Counts and Everyday Math curriculum. The children have been counting the number of days they've been in school, recording the number of letters in their names, and practicing writing numbers, among many other math activities.

The Kindergarten Prep class experimented with inclined planes and motion today. They made predictions and drew conclusions about which objects would be able to roll down the ramp and which wouldn't. They were excited to see if their predictions were correct!

The flow of our Kindergarten day allows for skill development across all subject matter—math, science, creative expression, and reading and writing--with a strong focus on social-emotional learning. Curricular content and skill development is both integrated in cross-disciplinary projects, and taught in distinct experiences. The program runs between the hours of 7:30am - 6pm and includes lunch and snacks. Our Collections Project offers provocations from the Smithsonian to spark children’s thinking and exploration of collections. Because museums are essentially large collections, this is a fitting topic for our first collaboration with the Smithsonian.
Our infants examine the Smithsonian Collection Artifact cards first, before their teachers give them real life, hands on experiences with their own collections!
It’s Fly on the Wall Wednesday 🪰 and the Kindergarten Prep class is celebrating National Feed the Birds Day 🐦! Take a peek as they use their fine motor skills to thread cereal on pipe cleaners to hang outside for the birds!
We learned so much more about weather during this storm! The Kindergartners discussed and made educated guesses about how our yard stick measured 7 1/2 inches of snow yesterday, why it only showed 6 inches today, when it hasn’t stopped snowing since Sunday! 🤔
