Dan, our executive director, shared his knowledge of the Civil War with our residents. Dan brought in a few items from his Civil War collection, which included a book from the Lincoln Douglas debates, Civil War dice, a flask, a copy of Harpers Weekly news, and a pre Civil War pistol. Everyone was very interested and shared their experiences traveling to areas where Dan had acquired all of his collectibles and had a lively discussion regarding this era.

Brookdale Burr Ridge Therapy Department was very innovative this year in making an interactive "Pop Your Face In Smile Scarecrow". Another scarecrow display was called "A Little Bit of This and That". Keep watching as we will be voting for our favorite!
Our Scarecrow event was full of creativity! The Gypsy Pumpkin Head submitted by our residents Stasia and Joyce had the most votes! Coming in 2nd was Humpty Dumpty submitted by Administration. Tied for 3rd place was What's Cookin' designed by our Dining Service and Clean Sweep, Housekeeping. Residents and associates all had a great time!
Brookdale Burr Ridge dining services and housekeeping are very competitive this year creating Halloween displays for all our residents to get into the spirit of Halloween. We are all counting down the days to announce the winner!
Residents teamed up and made scarecrows for our annual scarecrow/ Halloween contests at Brookdale Burr Ridge. Residents stated that making these scarecrows lifted all their spirits, much laughter could be heard as they were constructing their creations.
Humpty Dumpty has made an appearance at Brookdale Burr Ridge's front desk. Every day a new scarecrow appears to our residents' delight.
