Today many residents tried a “no bake” cookie for the first time! Kris, our Dining Service Coordinator, loves to bake, and she did a great job on all of the cookies! Our Mix and Mingle cart also features painted pumpkins that a few of our residents completed earlier this week.
Today while cooking with Casey, we made mini bagel pizzas. They were definitely a hit!
Crafting is the best way to pass time on a dreary day. Pat N. and Linda enjoyed the metallic colors in our acrylic pour-over pumpkins.
Sue celebrated her birthday last week and was blessed with a lot of love from her family and friends!
Not even a little rain could stop us from a joy ride to Van Buren State Park! Susie, Linda and Pat B. loved getting to see the changing of the leaves.
Over the span of 12 years, a lot of friends were made, love was shared, and memories were created. Helen retired in September but many of the residents miss her dearly. Helen was always busy chatting with the residents and making them laugh. She helped make quarantine a little more bearable and made every day a good day for so many of the residents.
Many of the pictures are from Helen’s surprise drive-thru retirement party. Others are just Helen in her greatness! Thank you Helen for 12 years of dedication!
On Tuesday Marge celebrated her 86th birthday! A special meal and ice cream at her request! A tough one because she loves all the food here, but we finally got her to crack!

Any day is a good day to thank veterans for their service, but today especially, we would like to thank our veterans here at Brookdale. Combined these gentlemen have nearly 20 years of service within the Army, Navy, and Air Force branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Thank you all for your service!

We had a great turnout today for our B-Fit exercise class. We did a themed upper body workout by waving our red, white and blue, and listening to patriotic music. We even had some new faces today!
Thursday, November 5th was National Donut Day! AdaBelle said, “I’m sure every bite will be good.” Everyone loved the donuts, we even made donut names for everyone. All of the staff and residents definitely got a kick out of them!
Yesterday Adelaide enjoyed her favorite dinner and chocolate cream pie, special made for her birthday! She received lots of love and warms wishes from her family and friends!

We “dug” up a different recipe this week for mix and mingle. In honor of Groundhog Day, Casey, created these Groundhog treats! The residents loved them and got a good chuckle out of them!
We came to the consensus that we aren’t looking forward to 6 more weeks of winter, what about you?

Deb, our hairdresser, is back in the community! She spent Friday afternoon with these ladies giving trims. Lookin’ good ladies!

This week it was Don who decided that a beer would go well with his afternoon snack. The ladies however stepped out of their coffee comfort zone and tried tea instead with their cookies.
